The name (almost) says it all.
Along with the classic spice of a red pepper sauce, this much sought-after sauce has just a touch of sweetness, ensuring it adds flavour, and not just heat, to your meal.
Product reviews...
Okay this one was just way too hot for me, I thought it wouldn't be that bad, but I should have really taken notice of the fact that a nice red pepper is quite prominently displayed on the label, and the almost glowing red of the sauce itself.
I might go ahead and see what I can mix this with to help soften the blow to my throat next time I use this. So not for everyone but if you like hot and spicy foods then this will probably be right for you.
Unfortunately this one was way to hot for me, and I wasnt able to try it out too much. It is very flavoursome with a wonderful kick, but for me I just couldnt cope unfortunately
I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good spicy chilli dish or who loves those sauces with an almighty kick to them, but for those who cant handle the fire, I definitely would not recommend
Okay as i've said before I really like spicy food, but this one as a sauce this one was one of the more hotter ones i've had, in fact, it was just past my limits of what I like as a sauce.
I was contemplating how I was going to use it when it dawned on me, why not put a bit on some chops prior to cooking and then see what happens, well it turns out that for me is the best option, as some of the heat is lost as the sauce merges with the meat for a nice marinade.
This was simply way too potent for my tastebuds.
I tried this as a dip, and it was strong, but lacked the 'fruity sweetness' the other sauces had.
However, this was interesting when used as part of a marinade for beef prior to slow-cooking it.
Overall, though it certainly has it's uses, it's not one I will keep in my pantry.
I make no apologies for being an unashamed Chillie addict. In fact, for me the hotter the better. For my wife, show any dish a photo of a chillie and it is waaaay to hot. Well, they do say opposites attract!
Chillie sauce to many people is just chillie sauce. Few would be able to taste the array of the back-notes because the high doses of capsiacin would melt the tongue rendering it incapable of tasting anything. But this one is different - there are some fantastic back notes and a slight underlying sweetness making it unique amongst chillie sauces. Whether it is because of the addition of Pimento (a sweet pepper) or whether it has been aged in oak barrels giving some warm woody notes (Yes, I know - I told you I'm an addict and can spot these flavours easily as if the capsiacin wasn't there at all). Perhaps the aging process in barrels has rounded out the sharp capsiacin kick giving a much more mellow flavour to the dish.
Having said that, I do love the kick of the product, but the overall flavour of this sauce complements many dishes and I have to say knocks many other more well-known brands off the top spot. Hopefully with these reviews, supermarkets will take more notice and start stocking widely.
If you really want to appreciate the taste of this chillie sauce, add a few drops to a glass of lemonade and the full flavour will be quite apparent. Yes, I do get a few funny looks doing this. But then, if you hadn't guessed - I love Chillie, and Pickapeppa Hot Pepper sauce is one of the best I have tasted in a long time. Full marks are well deserved.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH this is good.
I love hot sauce and my favourite was 'Kaitia Fire', until now.
One little drop, that's all I tried when I first got it and my mouth was still tingling 20 min later.
Tried it with dinner and it's got to be the best hot sauce I have ever tasted. all the flavors of the sauce blend together perfectly and the bite that you get as an after thought let's you know you enjoyed it.
For those who don't enjoy hot sauce this will be to much but for all the rest buy it and enjoy.
I let my neighbour try a bit of this sauce, and the bottle came back half empty!! Cheeky bugga liked it so much he poured half into a bottle of his own so he didn't have to keep coming back to borrow it.
