Four Holidays product reviews

Kate and Brad are a happily unmarried couple who avoid spending Christmas with their families at all costs and instead travel to exotic locales. But when they find themselves fogged in at the San Francisco airport and their flight to Fiji cancelled, they have no choice but to spend the holiday with their divorced parents and the rest of their dysfunctional relatives.

From his wrestling brothers and cradle-robbing mother to her oversexed grandmother and perfect sister, the couple is forced to face their worst nightmare head-on. Kate and Brad's greatest fears are realized as their families share their most personal secrets.

This film addresses broader themes of how well people really know each other and the importance of connecting with family, no matter how crazy they might be.

A cute, lighthearted watch which begins with happily unmarried couple Kate and Brad all set to fly to their luxurious island getaway - away from their unsuspecting families who are none the wiser that their offspring would rather jet set away overseas than spend their Christmas holidays with them. Much to Kate and Brad's dismay, an unexpected flight delay cancels their plans and they are caught on camera by a local news crew, revealing their whereabouts to the whole city... and to their families. With no escape, all they can do is bite the bullet and agree to visit their dysfunctional families for Christmas.

The problem is, Kate and Brad's families are a little different to most; both sets of parents are divorced, and this means four households to visit on Christmas day. So this is where the fun begins. Each household brings a whole range of extended family, the next household bringing even more mayhem than the last.

At each household, Kate and Brad seem to find out something about each other's past that they did not know about. This leaves them questioning just how well they really know each other. As Brad counts the hours to when he can get away from their parents, step-parents, siblings and an assortment of nieces and nephews, Kate is starting to hear the ticking of a different kind of clock. And by the end of the day, she begins to wonder if their crazy families' choices are not so crazy after all.

The movie touches on themes of honesty, compromise, and unconditional love. It definitely meets all of the criteria for a perfect chick flick - a love story, the perfect couple, the crazy family, and laughs, although there are many funny moments, there are not so many 'laugh out loud' ones. Vince (Brad) and Reese (Kate) play their parts superbly, and their natural spark is very believable.

Overall, a feel good, light-hearted watch, which carries a real meaning within the storyline. One to watch with the girls!
