Annie product reviews

Academy Award ® nominee Quvenzhanà © Wallis stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mum Miss Hannigan. But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in.

I grew up watching Annie with Aileen Quinn, so was curious to see what the modern version of Annie would be like. I saw the trailer a few times and it was on my facebook feed quite a bit at the time ("oh no, how can they make her black!" was the majority of what I saw. My thoughts... Who gives a damn so long as she can act). And Quvenzhane knocks it out of the park as the streetwise, plucky and very precocious Annie. The basic plot is similar to the version I grew up watching but new songs, new versions of songs and a couple of the characters are rather different, but after the first couple of minutes how different it was made it a good thing.

Of course all the adults do a great job, with names like Jamie Foxx and Rose Byrne you would expect them to act well but Quvenzhane outdoes them all. There are lots of fun and enjoyable moments and a few jokes thrown in for the adults which add to the enjoyment of the movie. I watched this with hubby, my three kids and my mother (who was only going to eat dinner and 'run') and everyone enjoyed it. My mum ended up watching the entire film and even my husband hung about and shushed the kids so he could hear it. My four year old sat and watched the entire thing, my five year old started to dance along and my seven year old was full of questions as to why certain events happen in the film.

Everyone enjoyed it and I was able to sing "It's a hardknock life..." with the kids gleefully singing "for us!" so I know it was a big hit, I think I'm going to need to get a copy of this to own.

Product image for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'Hot on the heels of last year's summer blockbuster, Battle of Gods, Dragon Ball Z is back in theaters. Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' is the second film personally supervised by the series creator himself, Akira Toriyama. The new movie showcases the return of Frieza - one of the most iconic villains of all time. Even the complete obliteration of his physical form can't stop the galaxy's most evil overlord.
