Slip and slide with us as we explore the wonders of the weather!
Kicks Up a Storm
It's a hot and muggy summer day and the heat's gone to Ralphie's head. The whole class wants to know "What makes the weather?" The Friz then transforms the bus in the Weathermobile and, in a wild ride through the skies, gives Ralphie the opportunity to become the meteorological superhero of his dreams.
Wet All Over
The class takes a wild ride with Ms. Frizzle through the water cycle, evaporating, condensing, raining, running downhill into a river, and evaporating again. Arnold, wet and worried that they will be stuck in the water cycle forever, suggests they escape back to school by taking a detour to the reservoir.
By travelling through the waterworks and town pipes, Arnold hopes they will find their way back to school, but he's not quite prepared for the trip's conclusion: being squirted out of the tap in the girls' bathroom!

My two boys love science and cartoons, so what better way to teach them youngun's some good scientific knowledge than through cartoons, more specifically "The Magic School Bus".
This DVD is all about the weather and what more topical subject could their be than that? Okay whilst this doesn't really go into the whole global warming thing, it does still give a good background on what the weather is and how it happens.
In Kicks Up a Storm we find out about Thunderstorms and how they're created.
In Wet All Over we look at the water cycle from the river to the sky to rain and back to the river again.
The Magic School Bus series is highly imaginative and of course highly informative to those junior meteorologists everywhere.
Ms. Frizzle takes the class on a field trip to discover how weather works. Ralphie decides he is Weatherman and tries to make a thunderstorm. He finds out the 3 components of making a thunderstorm - water, air and heat. Ralphie turns the class into water, water droplets, ice crystals and rain.
The dvd is full of puns, whilst being rain, Ralphie tells the class not to be a drip.
This dvd I would have to say is my favourite. Weather is a fascinating subject that you can never get sick of. Kicks up a storm is definitely a stormy affair. And with the Bus being transformed into a weathermobile, it is a wild field trip!
Wet All Over : taking us for a ride through the water cycle. Wanda and Arnold are doing a water science project together. They happen to be in the girls bathroom doing it, and when he gets caught by one of his peers in the bathroom, he gets side tracked and left the water running with the plug in the sink and the keys in the door. Hence this leaves the class as water until it evaporates.
The class goes for a wet ride to waterland where everyone gets wet. The children go through the cycle of evaporating, condensing, raining, going into a stream and evaporating again.
This is a great way for kids to learn about the weather. It's fun and exciting and it's kids teaching kids. I don't think the Magic School Bus will ever age. It was appealing to me growing up, and now is appealing to the next generation.
The Magic School Bus is about 8 kids and one teacher named Ms Frizzle who has a school bus that can transform into millions of unusual machines. The movie was rather weird, and extremely funny because of one kid in Ms frizzle's class named Arnold, who is always complaning about being blown around by the wind or getting turned into pure water. I liked all the parts that taught me about the weather, and all the machines that the magic school bus turned into. This DVD is great for teaching young veiwers science in a fun and easy way that lets lots of scientific info sink into people's minds, instead of spilling out their ears.
