Product reviews...
This has got to be the BEST product/toy I have ever brought my daughter. We umm and ahh about it for ages and with the price we weren't sure we wanted to pay that much for a child's "toy".
We sucked it up and brought our daughter one for her 4th birthday this year, then it went though our heads she will play with it once and never again. We set it all up the night before giving it to her, putting all the items we needed onto our computer, it was so simple to set up and connect.
Once we gave it to her she knew what to do so fast, she was so excited. The games it comes with were good, you just had to download the free ones. The pet pal game is great, teaching to look after a pet and also writing letters, the thing I love most is on that game you can make it left hand mode which is great for my left handed daughter (she prefers it on right hand mode though).
Our daughter got a voucher to get more games and that was so easy to use, we went onto the site that you download onto your computer and bought her some more games, brain thinking games, a story book, flash cards etc. Once they were bought we just plugged the leap pad into the computer and downloaded them onto the leap pad.
You can change the games on the leap pad with the other games in your system on the downloaded part, you can check their progress, download their artwork and also share it to facebook so family members can see their art. You can set their leap pad to their level like P-school.
My daughter has learnt so much with this even spelling, we do however have to put time limits on it as she will spend all day on it if we let her. The games you buy that you stick into the device (not the downloaded games) are also great, they come with so much information and fun while you know they are learning they think they are having just a blast.
We did find you cant just use normal batteries in them, you NEED some good rechargeable batteries to get a decent use out of it. We found with normal ones we got 1 day maybe 2 out of them, the rechargeable ones we get at least 4 days sometimes a week.
My 2 year old loves his sisters one too, but I really do think 4 years is a great age to start this, any younger then you have got to sit there with them to help. I just love I can leave my 4 year old with her leap pad and know she will be fine using it, in the car, on trips, holidays etc. My son will get one when he is 4
So this is fully recommended and I do recommend a time limit on them
