An excellent array of educational refernce books, these are great for all home-schooling parents, or for those who have under- or over-achievers they are helping with extra work outside of school hours.
My nearly-9 year old son is a new recruit to the home-schooling fellowship, and has found it a real boon to wake up each morning and know that he doesn't have to face bullies or uncaring teachers in order to learn. His curriculum is a lot more varied and interesting, and these books have helped us to keep him on the main track, but still allow him to branch off to explore some intriguing sidestreets.
His most preferred book is the Science one, mainly because he has inherited his father's love of all things fundamental. Mathsused to be his weakest, most fought-against topic, but with the help and guidance from this book we have helped him improve dramatically. English is still a skill he's working on, with a great flare for creativity in stories and lannguage skills i general, but a lack of desire to put it into structured format and written form. This book has helped us to begin bridging that gap between ability to create, and ability to construct. The General Homework book is a great travelling companion in the car these days. Covering small patches of a great many topics, it has helped to keep him occupied and involved during long drives and journeys with frequent short stops, meaning he's stuck in the car for prolonged periods.
Overall, a most excellent set of books, and great to see the range expanding each year! We'll be keeping up with these.
