Initially I was excited about this product as it is bright and eye catching for children. I liked the way the mobile arm folds down flat and it is robust and easy to assemble. The clamp appealed because I thought it could be used on a variety of surfaces, however it needs to be used on a width equal to the gap of the clamp or it wobbles and is unsteady. The plastic arms which the toys hang off are very brittle plastic and one actually broke on the first day I had it (admittedly my 19 month old was pulling on it). The animals were strung both from their backs and the tops of their heads - The back is probably better as the child can see the animal.

I think this is a great mobile. I planted this on the side of my youngest nephews cot one night when he was grizzling badly, unhappy at having all his hard work removed, wiped off and replaced with a clean nappy. The results were immediate. His eyes tracked right to it at the first sounds, and he stayed entranced for the 4 minutes it took to finish dressing him. It took a few rewinds of the spring to accomplish this but it wasnt a hard task. A little worrying was the loud and shocking "clack" we got as we discovered where "winding" becomes "overwinding" but no real damage seemed to be caused by that. The clamp is great, with the rubberised grips on the inner surface and the one-way locking mechanism. The need to firmly push a release button to unclamp it is excellent. I was also impressed at how it folded up so small for travel. it fits into a medium nappybag quite nicely, if you dont overpack. I would NOT recommend using it in a car though as it can be very distracting. All in all a very good mobile with a LOT going for it. However, even though it is about the same price as some pretty rubbish ones out there and thus is very good value for money, I have found mobiles in general to be over my comfort budget. If you are OK with paying this kind of price, this is top-line quality and certainly the one you should consider first.

Gorgeous bright colours, very easy to put together, and folds down well for easy storage and for travelling. Clear instructions and good music that plays for a statisfactory amount of time before rewinding is required. Would suggest that the way the dinosaurs (in my case) are hung be altered so they are less upright and more on an angle (eg. with string between the wings rather than on top of the head) so there is more for a child to look at than just its bottom.
