Product reviews...
I must say that this remote-controlled car is great, I especially liked the way you could make it pop a wheely. The only downside to the car was that you couldn't get it on it's hind wheels just by pressing the little button located on the side of the remote, I had to get the vehicle moving backwards, then thrust it forwards to make it do a wheely.
The manoeuvrability was okay, I found it a bit hard to control the car, but that's probably because I haven't had enough practice with R.C cars. My favourite thing about the "Power Rider" is the bodywork - the artwork was very intense and expressed the whole "Monster Truck" theme, but the chunky body meant that this type of car is not built for speed, so it didn't go very fast like the "Shadow Fox" or "Speed Fighter". I found that the "Power Rider" could take quite a bit of collision, so the front and rear bumpers worked great thanks to their loose structure that absorbs a lot of the shock.
This Carrera RC product is great for people 10+, since anyone below ten years old will probably get too rough with it and break it; But regardless of the age, all kids using this product should be under parental guidance so there is no chance of the car being broken accidentally. You will love the Carrara RC "Power Rider", it will be a great toy for your kid/s to play with, and for you adults this product will be great to chase your kid/s around with. Enjoy!
OK, we loved playing with this one... all the more so because it WAS capable of going off-road into mildly-awkward terrain. Let's face it, it's not going to do what the full-size vehicles do, but it certainly held it's own against lawns in need of a good mowing and uneven ground without flinching.
One thing that did surprise me was that no matter what I tried, I could not trigger the "turbo mode' that is supposed to kick the buggy up on to it's rear end and into "wheelie drive"... nothing would happen no matter how many times or how hard I hammered away at that button... but in the end figured out that if I kept it in reverse a few seconds until it was at it's top speed, then slammed it forward quickly, it would kick up it's nose and wheelie off down the pavement... not on grass though, obviously. Too rough and unstable.
Of the three Carrera RC cars we are assessing at the moment, this one is hands-down my favourite... it has the wheelie factor, the off-road capabilities, and it just sounds cooler as it hoons around like a mad beetle with a mosquito under it's shell.
Overall, by far my favourite of the current test batch... and certainly making me keen to see what else is coming down the track... all sorts of juicy rumours abound as to what we'll see in a couple more months when the mid-year release wave kicks in...
