Socks and wrist-straps with soft bugs on them that rattle.
Product reviews...
I was lucky enough to receive the Lamaze Garden bug Foot Finder and Wrist Rattle Set from a friend at my baby shower when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was pretty stoked to have received this as working in a early childhood teacher I have become familiar with this product and seen how much younger babies and children love these, so I was pretty sure that my daughter would to!
The gift set features 4 pieces, 2 wrist straps, and 2 socks each which have a cute little bug sewn on to them which makes a sound of some description. This was one of the first toys that my daughter really enjoyed and interacted with from a very young age I think she was about 6 weeks old but was showing a huge delight in these, as when she would move her hands, or kick her feet around she would create a sound. The bugs attached to the socks appeared to have something in them which was like a shaker, while the wings of the bugs on the wrist bands had scrunchy sound making wings.
The materials used to make these cute little toys were made from a lovely soft material, which was nice and gentle for up against babies skin. And also being made from such materials made them easy to keep hygienically clean as you can just pop them in the washing machine... perfect. Everything seemed quite safe for a baby to use as it all seemed to be well sewn together, even after washing I had no issues with loose threads etc.
The colours are bright and colorful, great for catching young children's attention and holding it for some time, but I also loved the amount of black and white used as it is important for children to look at these colours also I feel. A really great invention for keeping babies amused for some time, and even at 2 years of age my daughter still loved exploring these, which I found to be great for her fine motor skills and co-ordination as she had to work out how to get the socks on and off her feet (and hands) and also how to get the Velcro wrist bands done up.
A very cute pack of toys perfect for any young babies, another great Lamaze product!
The foot finder and rattle set are cute, colourful and noisy - perfect to attract little one's attention! I would put these on DD1 when we went for a walk, so that she would keep her hands in the pram, as she was fascinated by them!
Found the socks to be a slightly odd sizing - but work well on the hands instead. Also good if older children want to entertain the younger children with them.
As with most Lamaze toys, they are very well made and safe for little ones. They are on the pricier side, again - as with most Lamaze toys.
Would not hesitate to buy these again - and make a great baby shower/new baby present.
These are so bright and cheerful toys. They rattle and make rustling sounds which my son loves. I found with both my boys the socks didn't stay on very well and that they were easy to kick off - and when they were on, as they make sounds the boys wanted to kick their legs to play with them. They are quite a small fit, as the wrist bands were too and my eldest grew out of them fast. My younger son who is a bit smaller still fits them and at 6 months he loves waving his hands around and trying to eat them, they amuse him no end! Ours have been through the wash many times and have not faded after 3 years! I do think these are expensive for what they are, we were lucky that they were a gift!
When I first got these, I was rather looking forward to trying them out with my 9 week old son, only to be quite disappointed when I found that they were rather tight on him. Brightly coloured and noisy, these little bugs would be great to use on a baby my son's age or a bit older, but what's the point if they won't fit? He was only 9lb 8oz when he was weighed the other day, so it's not as if he's even a big baby. But if they came in a larger size, they would definitely be ideal, and something I'd probably use a lot with him.
I like the previous reviewer's comments about the wrist strap bugs being used on things like car-seat capsules, prams etc, and will be giving that a go, so that I still at least get some use out of them.
Plenty of good things going for these cute little guys... bright, noisy, durable, and the bugs themselves a good size for babies to grab hold of... but only for little babies!
This set contains a pair of socks, and a set of wrist bands. The socks I've found too small for bub's feet and ankles, but which fit well as mittens on her hands. The wrist bands I found were also too tight but make good capsule handle toys. The socks/mittens are a nice mix of basic Black and white stripes that baby can focus on and a brightly coloured bug that either have a small rattle inside and/or cricklely wings.
Since introducing the sock-mittens, I've noticed bubs has a higher awareness of her hands and fingers, and improved hand-eye co-ordination. The wrist bands fitted well around the carry handle of our capsule which gave bub's something nice and bright to focus on, a source of much chatter, animation and laughter.
These appear to be standing up to the test of infant toys well. Machine washable and colour fast. So whilst I'm not using them as Lamaze designed them, I feel these are a good choice for new born babies.
