My mother gave my daughter one of the other books in this series for her first birthday. She loved it so much that I requested that Nana bought another one of the books for Christmas. Nana not only bought Say Hello to the Baby Animals but two others. We now have four books in this series and I am aware of two more that are available.

As a twelve month old my daughter loved feeling the texture of the animals on each page as we read it to her. From about 18 months on-wards she enjoyed making the sounds of the animals (probably helped by the fact that both Mummy and Daddy enjoy making the animal noises when they read) and identifying the animals. Now that she is three and a half years old she knows the book off by heart and enjoys reading it to her younger sister and telling us what the baby animals are. "A baby giraffe is a calf just like a cow" or "A baby lion is a cub" she tells us.

Although I have seen this book as a board book we have the paperback version. We read at least one of these books every night and the children often read to themselves during the day but because it is made with thicker pages it is only the cover that is showing signs of wear.

I love these books and have given them to other children for their first birthday.

I loved this book... but not the pricetag! WAY too pricey for my liking!!!

The children loved this book too... though I doubt they would care about the cost.

This book is delightful for the senses:
    •  touch with the wonderful furry animals
    •  sight with bright, realistic (to the right degree) pictures
    •  hearing, with nice sounds to say out loud during the story.

There is good continuity through the book, with the previous animals still being seen on the pages to come and a nice culmination of them all on the final page.

Product image for The Shark in the DarkIt's chaos in the ocean!!

The shark in the dark is heading this way...

Will the flustered fish become saltwater snacks, or can they come up with a plan to teach that great greedy shark a lesson he'll never forget?
