Geronimo's fifth journey to the Kingdom of Fantasy!
I, Geronimo Stilton, was amazed to find myself in the Kingdom of Fantasy for a fifth time. The elves had called me there. The Volcano of Fire had been mysteriously reawakened!
On top of that, the Princess of the Fairies had been kidnapped. I knew I had to help - and my friends were ready to join me. We set off through new realms to rescue the princess and save the Kingdom from destruction. What an adventure!

I started reading the Kingdom of Fantasy series to my son as an introduction to chapter books, so we were super excited to receive The Volcano of Fire to review.
The Volcano of Fire is the fifth book in the Kingdom of Fantasy series. This time Geronimo returns to the Kingdom of Fantasy and embarks on a new quest to help his friends discover the cause of the earthquakes that have been shaking the Kingdom. As it turned out, the earthquakes were just the tip of the iceberg.
The book is full of action and humor, old friends and new, as well as a new bad guy. It's a tale of friendship and courage with barely a dull moment. The illustrations really help young readers to form a better picture of what's happening and the font changes are eye catching - making the pages more interesting/appealing.
The author also gives additional information about new characters and situations which are fundamental to the story. There are also little extras like the Fantasian alphabet at the back of the book which can be used to translate messages. All this adds a bit of fun and helps to draw the reader in. It held my son's attention well and we both thoroughly enjoyed reading this book together.
My Miss 11 was very excited to receive a copy of this to review she has been collecting Geronimo Stilton titles for several years and has the first four adventures in the Kingdom of Fantasy already in her collection. The books are very easy reading for her now being that they are aimed at younger children but she enjoys them a lot and the Kingdom of Fantasy books are great as they are hard cover books with more than double the pages of the standard books, this one being approximately 310 pages. She read the book in just over an hour so was a good night time reading session.
In this book Geronimo finds himself back in the Kingdom of Fantasy (or did he?) as the Kingdom is under threat by strange earthquakes and volcanic activity. The elves need his help to find out what is causing the earthquakes so they summon him to the Kingdom of the Elves to begin the quest to find the cause. As we all know from previous GS books Geronimo is a bit of a scaredy mouse but is such a great adventurer that he always solves the mystery and comes out looking like a brave hero in the end.
The quest takes Geronimo, and his friends to various places in the Kingdom of Fantasy, along the way they learn their friend the Queen of the Fairies has been kidnapped so their quest becomes more serious as they search for the missing princess aswell as the cause of the mysterious earthquakes. They go to some interesting places, including heading straight into the Volcano of Fire and finally ending up in the Land of the Diggerts, where they find the cause of the strange Earthquakes and the evil villian that they must defeat.
The book includes a bit of information on Earhquakes and Volcanoes which the readers may be interested in knowing but what stood out to me where the little information boxes that gave advice on things like friendship and how to be more courageous. There are also little extras like a fantasian alphabet that the reader can use to translate messages throughout the book which make it a bit interactive which is fun for the readers. My girl wrote a note to me before bed that I had to translate using the alphabet which was very cute.
Will be interesting to see where the Kingdom of Fantasy goes next, we have been on five great adventures so far that have kept my girl really entertained so I think it would be cool to see new adventures in the future.
