Product reviews...
I prefer the Thea Stilton books over the Geronimo Stilton books as Thea's books have fantastic stories with lots of information about Thea and the Thea sister's (her fabumouse friends) travels. They are great books to reinforce for girls that you can be an adventurer and do amazing things. A bit of girl power. I hope that by reading these books my girls will get to learn a bit more about the world we live in and get the travel bug! Being a bit girly I should imagine boys will stick with Geronimo's adventures!
This book follows Thea and her friends in Egypt on an adventure to find the legendary ancient Treasure of the Sun. As with other Stilton books almost every sentence has coloured text, different sized fonts and crazy style. There are also some great illustrations and lots of really interesting facts about things Egyptian.
My Miss Five loves these books and we both really enjoy reading them together. Having been to Egypt I enjoyed this story and it was great to reminisce about my travels. This is a brilliant book for introducing Egypt and a bit of history to the kids.
These chapter books are a fantastic progression from picture books as they still have lots of pictures but are more complex in story and length. The font is large and paragraphs small so great for the emerging reader. The formula that is used in this series is really brilliant. This is a bit of a detective story and I liked in the middle there was a "what do you make of the situation so far" box with a summary of "facts" so we could talk about Miss Five's level of comprehension and then discuss what might happen next. I love as well the positive relationship between the Thea sisters so there are lots of point for discussion along the way when reading this.
I can recommend the Thea Stilton books and this story is just as good as others we have read. A brilliant Christmas gift for a girl five years and up.
