Harry Potter : 4 : The Goblet of Fire product reviews

The pivotal fourth novel in the seven-part tale of Harry Potter's training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about Cho Chang, his crush (and maybe do more than dream).

He wants to find out about the mysterious event that's supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn't happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. Unfortunately for Harry Potter, he's not normal, even by wizarding standards.

And in his case, different can be deadly.

Harry Potter is growing, his powers are growing and things are slowly getting darker, as proven in this addition to the series.

The Triwizard cup tournament comes to Hogwarts and with the events over the holidays, everyone is on edge, things go from bad to worse when somehow Harry's name comes out of the cup, despite his being too young. There's a lot of personal stuff going on in this book between our three heroes, Ron has jealousy that he can't quite work out, of Hermione going out with one of the competition, a rift comes between Ron and Harry for the first part of the book, and general distrust from some of the student body.

This is the book where everything really starts to change as the events of the tournament unfold, far more is going on in the background than ever before and the strain begins to show on a weary Dumbledore. The special effects in this are well done, the dragons are wonderfully done and look amazing, and then there is the scenes in the lake and the maze at the end has everything done so well that it spooks you and you're wanting them to hurry up and get out of there.

Yet another good addition to the Harry Potter series (and I almost cried).

The magic of the storyline, for me, has been the inclusion of magic in the story. Now, four years on from our first introduction to Harry, we are able to follow the natural, sometimes scary progession of his powers as a wizard. Although he and his classmates don't always manage to make exactly the right choice at the right time, as with most I think, there is still the feeling things will work out to somewhere nearly approaching normal, considering circumstances.

There were many parts of the movie that caught my eye. Some of these for good reasons, some not so good. I would go into them here, but if I do that and you are someone who hasn't seen the movie, it could ruin what may be or may not be a good movie for you.

Suffice to say, I have seen it twice so far at the cinema, and I plan to add it my DVD collection as quickly as I can.

This one earns and easy-eight... the darkest, most 'aggressive' of the HP movies by far, this one sees some characters return from previous movies... big, bad, mean ones mainly. However, Harry is no longer a boy, he's a wizard of amazing power, and here we really start to see him at his best, using his abilities in ways he never would have dreamt of earlier.

I can't really say much about it without giving away the plot... so you'll just have to take my word that this is possibly one of the best, or worst of the HP movies. It's dark, scary and ominous... which could be the greatest bit of it... or the bit that puts you off.

Overall, still a great movie, showing the ongoing progress of our favourite young wizard... if you liked the books and still enjoyed the movies, you'll not want to miss out on this one.
