I was back at Gull buying more sets of 'Speedeez' (also reviewed on this site) and I saw these on my way out. The guy behind the counter mentioned they were also quite popular, and at a mere $1.99 I am not at all surprised.
I was a little sceptical about how well they would work, but a quick study of the hydraulic system had me really curious, so I bought one. It was less than a loaf of bread, so I thought "why not".
Got home, unpacked it, followed the 3 simple directions on the back of the pack, and sure enough, up the window it walked. Very cool.
I am currently trying to convince my 3year old son that he must leave it at Daddy's house, and I will get him another one for Mummy's house, he refuses to let it out of his little grasp.
Though simple, it is a little complicated for a 3 year old... I would say that a bright 4 year old or older would be able to get the steps in the right order every time though. It is quite sturdy, but if it hits concrete I think it will break quite effectively, so I agree with the packaging, keep it over carpet or some other soft'ish landing spot. At $1.99 each, Value for Money is right up there. And hey, it actually climbs smooth walls and surfaces, utilises a very quirky and effective billows system to give control suction and release as it walks, making it a VERY cool toy.
Overall, don't think I will try to collect the set (the designs are very similar, just slightly different body shells) but will certainly be getting a couple more as spares for Mum and Dad's places. He's bound to break them as time goes by, and at this price I wouldn't want to risk missing out on him having replacements.
