Product reviews...
My partner loves cleaning his cars and having worked in car grooming he is fussy with his car cleaning products he wants something that's going to give him a great result. This was one of those products he absolutely loved and raved about how well it worked. Keeping the wheels clean is something he would do quite often to keep them looking shiny and to remove the built up brake dust and dirt from day to day driving.
We found the spray bottle easy to use, spraying it onto the wheel we soon noticed it changing a purple tone as it started to break down the grease and grime, after leaving we hosed off and revealed the now clean wheels underneath. It did an amazing job of stripping through grease and brake dust and leaving behind a shine on the metal. There was no need for scrubbing as the wheel cleaner did all the work itself.
This is a quality product at a great price and we would definitely buy it again for the job it does and time it saves its certainly great value for money and leaves your wheels looking professionally cleaned. The bottle is a great design and the lettering used is eye catching so looks great on the garage shelf with other cleaning products my partner treasures.
My husband likes to keep a clean car, he spends ages washing, scrubbing, waxing and shining every part of our cars most weekends. So the opportunity for him to try out this new product Luxxio Agent X Wheel Cleaner to hopefully make his job easier should be a gift gratefully received.
When I first saw the spray bottle, I was impressed with it's sleek black design and it's accompanying information booklet, I read the reverse of the bottle and the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. My husband and I discussed the best car to try the wheel cleaner on first; the obvious choice was our 18 year old daughter's car which rarely receives a wash or least of all a wheel clean. Her car's front wheels were very dirty so we followed the directions on the bottle, sprayed the cleaner onto the alloys and waited 60 seconds, the wheels slowly went purple which was very cool to watch. The fragrance reminded me to the smell of hair perm solution from back in the day which we both had a wee giggle about while waiting. I rinsed off with the hose and we were both very impressed, they were very clean, with little effort and little spray used out of the 500ml bottle; I'd say roughly 40mls to do all four wheels with a good coating.
I went inside and logged into their website and I was very pleased to see it was a New Zealand company formed by kiwi three blokes with a passion for the industry, but also disappointed to see there were no stockists in Otago listed. While it would be handy to buy this locally, I will definitely be keeping Luxxio in mind as gifts for my car-mad husband and free shipping on their website helps too.
The luxxios agent x wheel cleaner was just what the wheels of our car needed after all the travelling our family does as they get all dirty which is not ideal and quite eyesore so this product was really useful to get rid of all that filth on the wheels of the car. The application was easy to do and the instructions were all well explained. When we sprayed it on it almost immediately turned inky purple which we were all amazed by. After the first application had been hosed away I noticed still patches of grease left so I did a second application and although it wasn't part of the instructions decided this time to also scrub the wheels with a brush and after rinsing off the foamy mixture noticed it was much cleaner. The only thing I did not like was the strong foul sulphuric smell that this product gave off while being used on the wheels while cleaning.
This is a very quick working product as it only takes 20-60 seconds as implied by the label of the bottle and it also has first aid instructions if it ever happened to come into contact with somebody's eyes or skin which is very handy. The bottle itself is very elegant and sleek looking with the black colour and white overlay writing. It is simple to look at and not overly trying to be fancy as it pulls it off with its colour choices, unlike other products that overly cram too much onto their packaging to try and make it more appealing. I found it nifty how some of the letters were coloured a nice mulberry purple because of the colour of the product as it reacts to iron. This product has cleaned our wheels very well and it was a good decision to use this product.
Overall this product worked very fast and thoroughly plus the application itself was very easy to use and the change of colour is very satisfying which is like a little bit of fun while doing chores. The only thing I did not find so fun about the whole process was the absolutely ghastly smell of the product although it fades after a while. As far as value for money this cleaner is on the pricy side at $30 for a $500ml bottle and I don't know if it was just me but I found I had used close to half the bottle in one cleaning session but time will tell the true value as seeing how long they actually stay clean for will be interesting. I would recommend this to people who travel a lot and want to clean their wheels after they get them all muddy or dirty. The saying goes that you have to work smarter not harder and with this product, you can easily achieve that.
When I saw this it looked like something we would be into since we have a car that travels a lot in a week plus have a car cleaning business and wheels are always the fun job of it lol. When it arrived the black spray bottle is awesome I love it's sleek and easy to look at nothing fancy as such. The instructions on the bottle are very clear in fact you couldn't make it any simple. Spray onto wheels the spray attacks the iron particles leave for 20-60 seconds we needed the whole 60 seconds per wheel for both cars. It also gives clear instructions about washing product off the driveway so staining doesn't happen also information about if products gets in eyes etc.
Now spraying it on I'm glad we did it outside, not in the garage, but it stank - it was very potent and a smell I don't like. We sprayed one wheel and the product started going red/pink almost right away on the front wheels, back wheels took a little longer. The bottle clearly says it will change colour then once it's slowed, wash it off, so I used a water blaster and had to reapply which took another 60 seconds. We had only washed the wheels two weekends beforehand.
My partner and I were very impressed with its changing colour and the product did a great job but sadly for the price of the bottle and how long it will last we aren't a fan. You can't really do a light spray we needed to cover all areas on all wheels including where the nuts are. To do both cars we used almost a whole bottle so $30 for two cars not worth it for us. Don't get me wrong it's a good concept and does a lovely job just we can't afford that each time we need to clean.
Our cars take a lot of battering as they travel quite a bit, as well as through some very dirty road works, every single day. We don't get time to clean our cars as much as we should, or as we would like to. And this especially includes our tyres which takes the most hammering on those open roads and roadwork areas.
The instructions looked pretty straight forward. Shake well, spray onto a cool surface, wait 20-60 seconds (I like fast-acting solutions!!), rinse and then dry. Repeat if you have stubborn areas using a wheel wash sponge. It could not be more simple! We did end up spraying twice thanks to our lack of cleaning the tyres and what it drives through every day. And you could see the difference definitely. You could see the brake dust particles on the driveway (and thanks to the warning, we washed it away straight away). We needed to wait the entire 60 seconds both times, and looks like we need to redo again soon to get those stubborn particles.
Something that does need to be written on the bottle more clearly is that this needs to be sprayed in a ventilated area. We did use it outside, but the cleaner is quite potent and strong! And while it is not a bad scent, it isn't something that you want to be smelling over and over again.
In terms of how it looks, the bottle is very sleek and looks all of it's $30 value. It's easy to spot on a shelf, clear wording with no 'pretty' pictures which don't apply to what it is. And the $30 price tag is excellent, exactly the price I would expect to pay for something specific for a car.
I did not realise how much fun this product would be to use. It was simplicity itself to apply; literally, all you had to do was spray the car wheel, wait till it changed colour, then wash it off again. That seemed perfectly logical, but when I read the instruction to wait till the sprayed area changed colour before rinsing, I had expected a gradual fading to a lighter shade as the spray did its work. I had forgotten what happens when you attack something with an oil base and then add water and light. Within seconds of spraying, I was treated to the most amazing swirls of rainbow colours in every possible combination. Psychedelic in the extreme - a '70s hippie would have been in his element!
Once the rainbows started to fade, I thought it must be time to rinse. The instructions had indicated that the colour changes would slow down after 20-60 seconds, and my wheels certainly needed the full minute. As I was enjoying the whole process anyway, I waited patiently! Once I had rinsed, I rubbed the wheels off with an old cloth and more black residue came away leaving the wheel shiny and totally beautiful. It was not 100% perfect, but it is an old car with old wheels so I was more than satisfied with the result.
To gauge how effective the product might be, I left one wheel untreated and photographed that. I then took a second shot of one of the treated wheels and saved the photos side by side so the results could be compared. It is quite obvious that the treated wheel has undertaken quite a transformation from its original state - before I started, this wheel was just as dirty as the other one. One of my first jobs, now that the photos are done, is to attack the remaining wheel and clean that one so they all match. I was amazed at how little spray was needed; I can see that the bottle contains enough for lots more applications.
I appreciated the clear information printed on the outside of the bottle - in a font that is big enough to read! There is a useful warning about the product's potential to stain, something I should have realised since all the gunge that washes off the wheel has got to go somewhere - and preferably not on your driveway! I made sure that my car was parked on the grass, where damage from the runoff would be minimal. However, those who have nowhere but the driveway to use are safe as long as they rinse the area well. There is also a clear warning about safety around eyes and the risk of prolonged exposure to skin. All common-sense information but it is useful to have the reminder just in case.
