What distinguishes a mandarin orange from a clementine, an iris from a pupil, a tornado from a cyclone, and a bee from a wasp? The difference is in the details.

This content-rich illustrated extravaganza distills the distinctions between an impressive collection of pairs--from animals to food to geography and more--offering enlightening trivia, amusing tidbits, and unforgettable facts in a highly browsable format.

Young readers can dip in quickly to feed their curiosity, or delve into the details and stay awhile. With a bold, graphic art style and an accessible, smart text, this miscellany collection will enrich probing minds (or is it "brains"?).

This is the book for anyone who's thought that certain things are pretty much the same, that there's little to separate a garter from a viper snake, jeans and denim, a closet or armoire and other such topics. Even though there will be plenty of people who know the difference between a Tibia and a Fibula it is still interesting to see the two side by side and various little tidbits offered to us to highlight in which ways they are different and how we can distinguish them from each other. This book is divided into six sections with five to ten different items for you to explore.

Each item gets a double page, one for each of the items being offered. Each then has a small section, where side by side, you can read a few little comparable facts such as for clothing where it originated from, or when is the best season or temperature to wear it in, other items might tell you what its composition is or any distiguishing features. There are then some nice little facts about them with handy little pictures. Each key item gets a half page image making it easy to see what you're reading about on each page.

This is a lovely, well set out book, though I did wish that there could have been a few more pages as some items were obvious to me and others weren't. All in all though, a fun book for those trivia hunters in your life.

Product image for Super FinnFinn Marsh : Superhero? Or Super Loser...

When Mr Patel asks his class what they'd like to be when they grow up, Finn (most famous for getting into trouble and doing stupid things) chooses 'superhero'.

Finn knows what he needs: superpowers, an enemy, a hideout, an outfit and... oh yeah, to save someone's life. Impossible? Not with a sidekick like the amazing Brain.
