Bring It On: Worldwide Showdown product reviews

Vivica A. Fox makes her Bring It On debut as Cheer Goddess, the internet's most popular "Cheer-lebrity."

When Destiny (Cristine Prosperi), captain of three-time national champions "The Rebels," is challenged to a global cheer showdown by an edgy new team called "The Truth," Cheer Goddess organizes a virtual battle for squads from all around the world.

It seems like the whole world wants to take down Destiny and her team, and they just might succeed, unless Destiny can rise to the challenge, set her ego aside and figure out who her real friends are.

Back in the year 2000 the first Bring It On Movie was released and being a 17 year old I was in the demographic that the movie was aimed at. I do remember watching it, on more than one occasion, however I can't say that I have watched any of the other Bring It On Movies, perhaps because I was near the top of the age range it was suited for so by the time the other movies came out I was a little older than what they were targeted at. When this new version was put up as a movie to request through KIWIreviews I got my request in and was lucky enough to be selected to receive this DVD. I wondered just how much it would remind me of the original version and whether I would enjoy it.

This version, Bring It On: Worldwide Showdown has certainly brought the Bring It On series into current times. Right at the beginning of the movie people are live streaming the performance and hash tags are popping up all over the screen - definitely something believeable in the year 2017! I am not a user of hashtags myself, so I did find them a little annoying, but I know that they will appeal to the younger crowd that the Bring It On movies are usually targeted at.

This movie is based around The Rebels, a champion cheerleading team that is challenged to a global showdown by a team wearing masks so you don't know who they are. This team pops up a few times through online videos just to remind you they are there and working towards the challenge. Later in the movie we get to find out just who they are, and I must say I hadn't picked it or even really thought about who it could be.

This movie definitely brings to the forefront the issue of cyber bullying. Destiny (the head of the Rebels) gets a hard time from many fans and non-fans online, to the point where you feel her pain. However, it is good to see that she picks herself up and soldiers on. I think it would have been good to address this issue a little more in the movie though, as it felt to me like it was condoning the behaviour, which certainly isn't right. But good to see a positive outcome from such treatment towards a person.

Over all, I enjoyed the movie. There are times that you just want to sit back and watch something that doesn't require too much concentration or thinking and this is definitely one of these. It's nice to watch something that takes you back in time a little, but doesn't feel too real that you miss that time in your life. I would sit down and watch it again as I really enjoyed a lot of the music that is within the movie.

Product reviews for listing 3771: Bridget Jones's Diary -  Directed by Sharon Maguire

Product image for Bridget Jones's DiaryFrom the makers of Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill comes the screen adaptation of Helen Fielding`s international best seller starring Golden Globe winner Renee Zellweger (from Nurse Betty and Jerry Maguire) in the title role as the dynamic, irrepressible and outrageously original Bridget Jones. 32-year-old Bridget smokes too much, drinks too much and has a tendency to say whatever's on her mind. As a New Year`s resolution she decides it's time to take control of her life - and starts keeping a diary.
