Product reviews...
I have tried many drinking chocolates or chocolate flavoured powders in my time, but never any sugar free ones. I recently received a canister of the Du chocolate sugar free chocolate powder in a competition, and I do admit to being a little bit dubious about it being sugar free. But then I read it was sweetened with Natvia. I do not know much about Natvia, actually I do not know anything about Natvia lol but it says 'sweetened' with on the canister, so I figure that has to be a good thing for my taste buds.
The canister is a 200g size, looks small, but when you open the easy to open lid, it seems like there is just so much chocolate powder in there, and it goes a really long way too. It is not a dark brown chocolate colour like baking cocoa, but a light brown powder but the chocolate aroma when you lift that lid is AMAZING! And the flavour, oh my...wow!! it is seriously yum. The other great thing about this product is that it is such a smooth velvety chocolate flavour when made into a drink, that you do not even need to add sugar (if you're that way inclined). A lot of chocolate powders are quite bitter if you do not add sugar but not this one.
And, it is not just perfect as a drink. We have used it sprinkled on ice cream, added to baking (chocolate cookies, truffles, peanut brownies, cheesecake) and even sprinkled on porridge in the morning. My kids have probably sprinkled it on other cereals and toast too knowing them haha Also if you google Du Chocolate and go on to their website, there is a recipe section on there too. I have had a look and some of the recipes are amazing, from puddings to donuts, slices to pancakes. Most seem aimed at those who have allergies or intolerance using all natural ingredients, no sugar, almond milk and the like, which is really good for my daughter.
I am very happy with this product, it is available at our major supermarkets here in New Zealand, as well as Australia (being an Australian product) and Hong Kong. It is a product that will feature on the top of my grocery list from now on, but we still have quarter of the initial canister left to use yet. So again I say - it really goes a long way!
