Product reviews...
I love V, perhaps a little to much. In fact I know I love it a little to much, and every now and then I have to go on a V strike because I find myself consuming far to much of it on a daily basis. I am currently in one of those V strikes at the moment haha It is hard to believe that V first launched in 1997. But obviously they have made a fantastic product because it is still here and I am still drinking it. I do not drink any other brand of energy drink at all.
I have tried all of the V flavours as they are released but generally find I purchase the original green the most or treat myself to a blue now and again. The thing I find with V is that whenever a new flavour is released, it is kind of hard to determine what the actual flavour is, and more often that not V are a little secretive when it comes to letting one in on what they may be lol The spiked punch is exactly like that. Do not be fooled by the word 'spiked' either, which most of us would relate to alcohol, this is definitely an alcohol free beverage. It is fruity, as one would expect, going by the word punch. But as to what fruits exactly I do not know.
The smaller can, as always, is the perfect size to fit in your hand. I do not generally buy the larger sized cans/bottles, I prefer the smaller size to limit my consumption lol I do love the design of the spiked punch. It is possibly my favorite design of them all. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and as such catches ones attention easily.
I also like that the drink itself is not to fizzy nor under fizzy if that makes any sense. Some carbonated drinks are under fizzy, which makes me think they are going flat, and as a result I can often waste a drink because of it. But that is not the case with the spiked punch. Of course, being not to fizzy also means I can consume the whole thing pretty quickly then feel a little sad because I have finished it to fast. I do not really know if energy drinks boost ones energy as such. I purchase more based on flavour and appeal. V is definitely my fav, spiked punch is a great flavour, but I will still stick to green and blue as my preferred choices.
My only gripe with V would possibly be the big difference in prices between shops. I find I often drive out of my way to go to the store that I know has it the cheapest, which at times can be time consuming and a bit of a pain. But it is worth it.
With two little kids and a lack of sleep, there is the odd occasion where I will grab a can of energy drink for a bit of a pick me up. I really love the original v so when I saw it was up for review I got excited and requested it. With v and their different flavours they bring out, you really don't know what to expect. I popped the can into the fridge for the night as I prefer my drinks nice and cold, compared to semi warm and not chilled.
I find with V when they release a new flavour that they normally don't give much away in the title of the drink as to what it is going to taste like. However, this was called 'spiked punch' and I imagined it to be fruity. I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first sip that it was in fact a little bit fruity and did remind me of punch in a way. I tried to guess exactly what the fruity flavour could be made up of but I could not pin point it. I love the thinness of the cans as they are just the right size to grab in your hand. I also found the can to be pleasing to the eye. I loved the bright colours in the name of the drink and found it really helped to make it stand out on the black of the can. If I saw this on a supermarket shelf against other energy drinks it would definitely catch my eye.
All in all I really enjoyed this drink and it has knocked my old favourite energy drink out the window. This is now the top of my list for energy drinks and can't wait to buy some more. Great job V.
Being a non-coffee drinker I occasionally reach for a V to give me an energy hit when needed. I have tried all of the flavours so far so was excited when they released a new flavour. The blue V has been my favourite so far, but was keen to see if this would knock the blue V off the top spot!
Upon opening the can the first thing I noticed is how well the can travelled. Not being local to KIWIreviews my V Spiked Punch can was sent in a box. When I opened the can it still had that nice freshly bubbly sound that you get from opening any fizzy can. I had wondered whether it would go flat with being sent, but this certainly wasn't the case. The smell upon opening was delicious! Certainly had a nice fruity punch type smell. This was going to be a good contender to knock the blue V off of it's spot!
Upon taking my first sip I was sold! The yummiest, fruitest, right amount of sweet flavour came from inside the can. The can was the perfect size too, skinny enough to fit perfectly in the hand, but big enough to leave you feeling satisfied. I have also purchased one of the glass bottles of the spiked punch since trying the can (I really was sold on the flavour!) and it tasted just as good out of the glass bottle as it did out of the can. Sometimes I swear there is a difference in flavour depending on what vessel you drink out of, but certainly not in this occasion.
As for the energy hit - I certainly feel the buzz whenever I drink V. When I drank the bottle that I had purchased I was at work doing just over 12 hours. My boss noticed a certain difference in me (I gained a hit of energy all at once!) and I know I would not have been able to carry on for as long as I did had I not had it. While I try not to drink energy drinks too often, I do know that when I need one for an energy boost I can rely on V to provide me with this.
I have always enjoyed the various flavours V has put out so was keen to give this limited edition flavour a try. I received the can that has the blue writing 'Spiked Punch' on it which is their standard 250ml can size. As with any energy drink they don't taste great warm so the first thing is to pop it in the fridge to chill and wait till its cold before consuming.
Once chilled I opened the can and was greeted with a plesant fruity smell which instantly reminded of punch and could detect some passionfruit in the smell as well. I didn't pour it into a glass as I enjoy drinking it out of the can, something bout the cold can I think aids to the drink and personally the colour of the drink puts me off pouring it into a glass so I do prefer to drink any V drinks via the can.
I took a couple of sips and it tasted delicious, very fruity and felt it reminded me of other punches but was really nice and I didn't find that after taste tang that some energy drinks leave you with. I really like the design that V has gone for with the bright letting and colouring visually it looks great and grabs your attention. I do wonder though are the other two colours the same taste as the one I received, from reading the other reviews I think they are the same and they have just used differen't colours on cans so there is orange, blue or pink.
Overall I enjoyed this drink and would consume it again, I can't comment whether it gives me more energy as I've never found this with any of the energy drinks and usually just drink them for the taste rather than the energy aspect.
I was excited to receive a can of spiked punch in my last review package. I love V and energy drinks so was keen to give the new V Spiked Punch a taste. I popped it in the fridge to chill over night so I could taste it once chilled. The next day I sat down to enjoy my lunch with the can of V Spiked Punch. I opened it up and was pleasantly surprised at the fruity scent of the V. I took a couple of sips and it tasted delicious. It has a very nice fruity taste, but doesn't leave that sugary after taste like other energy drinks. I was quite impressed.
The black can is very appealing with the bright orange bold title, very eye catching. The orange title goes really well with the bright green V logo too. All the important information is clearly stated on the back like the ingredients and nutritional information.
I really enjoyed drinking my can of Spiked Punch V and it left me wanting more. I will definitely buy this in the near future and would recommend it to anybody who enjoys enjoy drinks. It's a limited edition range though so get in quickly. It was like drinking a refreshing fruit juice with that great guarana hit. I've seen this available for $2.49 each or 2 for $4 at local supermarkets and petrol stations, so very good value for money. I see the Spiked Punch range also comes in the 350ml bottle and the 500ml can for those who are wanting a bigger hit of guarana.
V energy drinks and in particular this V spiked punch has quite possibly spiked my return to drinking energy drinks! I have always been a fan of V, especially the blue version but with my lifes most recent additions (aka children) its been a fair few years since I've enjoyed the hit of an energy drink. I think V has designed a great can and with the bright colours against the black the awesome design of this can makes it standout and I will definately be looking for it at my local shops.
After recieving my review parcel I put the can of this drink in the fridge until the perfect occasion for drinking it arrived. A busy morning after being up lots in the night with my youngest child meant I was feeling rather very tired and thus while jumping in the car to drive to my next outing was the occasion when I cracked up this magical little can. What indugled my tastebuds was some sort of fruity mixture of flavours, it really was quite sweet but at the same time not over the top and overall was a very enjoyable flavour. There was also lots of fizz which I always appreciate in a drink of this type.
I must say that I'm thankful of the opporunity to review this product as to be completely honest I'm not 100% sure I would have brought it to try. This is purely for just one reason and that is that the name of the drink and the listed ingredients don't give much indication of the flavour this drink might be. Perhaps this is part of the excitement, which I can totally see and want to try... but then boring old me kicks in and thinks if I'm going to spend money on an energy drink I want to know the flavour of the drink if that makes sense. Now I've tried it however I will definately purchase this again and recommend you do the same - while its still around!
I was so excited to have the chance to review V Spiked Punch. I have been a huge drinker of caffeinated drinks including V and have only recently given them up to aide my weight loss journey but feel it is appropriate to treat myself occasionally. So after my parcel arrived I was eager to try the V but decided it would be best chilled!
I opened my V Spiked Punch and immediately was hit with a pleasant fruity scent, It sort of reminded me of one of the other Limited Edition V drinks but I could not pinpoint which one, perhaps the carnival. It had a strong fruit smell although I also could not determine which fruit it was.
I was pleasantly surprised by the taste, I usually prefer the original V but this Spiked Punch flavor has won me over! It was not harsh at all and the fruits pleasantly complimented each other. There was no after taste and it was not to fizzy which for me was perfect. The cans are also very visually appealing, recyclable and the perfect size for a treat! I will have to invest in these for treat days before they are no longer being sold! If you like fruit and you like fruity flavours you will love these!
I must be one of the very few New Zealanders who has never tasted V, so I approached this product with no preconceptions at all. I was aware that it is an energy drink, however, so chose to try it on a day where I had several hours of manual work to do - that would put it to the test!
I carried out my usual sniff-test when I opened the can. The first impression was of a combination of passionfruit and lychee, not too strong but enough to be recognisable. I checked the label to see if these two fruits were indeed included, but there are none mentioned so I could not be sure. I am also aware that, when two or more fruit flavours are mixed, they can morph into a new combination which cannot easily be pinpointed.
Then came the taste test - and I was pleasantly surprised. I am not sure what I expected, but experiences with another energy drink brand had suggested it might be a fizzy mix which tasted bitter and metallic. It was anything but - this drink was sweet and smooth with a definite fruity flavour. I still had the impression of passionfruit and lychee, and the golden colour would bear this out, but there was now also a hint of lemon that I had not picked up on during the smell test. However, that was probably due to the citric acid which has little or no odour.
I was having a rest break while I sorted some pots of "weedlings" so the drink was a pleasant complement to the activity. However, I did have to remind myself that it was best to drink it slowly so as to avoid a sudden caffeine rush. Although I don't like overly fizzy drinks as they tend to lack flavour, the fizz also slows down the drinking, so this might be a case for upping the bubbles.
I like the trendy can although the "spiked" threw me momentarily so I had to check in case there was an alcohol content. However, the can information makes it clear that it is alcohol free. I was relieved to see that as I don't drink alcohol when working. When I was living in Europe, we used to make a mulled wine (heated and stirred with a "spike" or stick of cinnamon) so spiking has that connotation for me as well as the common reference to adding alcohol to a soft drink or juice. I am assuming that the spiking in relation to this product refers to the added guarana.
And the overall effect? I worked for around seven hours, mostly digging and lifting, and felt energetic and wide awake the whole time. Three hours later I am still feeling energised. Whether that is the satisfaction of having finished a boring but necessary job or the effect of the can of V I drank is unable to be proved conclusively, but I did enjoy it and am hoping it will be on sale for a few months yet.
