Cinderella and her Very Bossy Sisters product reviews

Once upon a time there was a girl called Cinderella who lived with her two VERY bossy sisters. When she was not cooking or cleaning, Cinderella could be found mending her sisters' shoes, or even fixing the car! One day, an invitation arrives to a ball at the palace. But Cinderella is kept so busy helping her bossy sisters get ready, squeezing their pimples and finding their spotty bloomers, that she has no time to get ready herself, until a visit from a fairy godmother changes her luck forever.

I have my own little Miss 3.5 princess at home who is absolutely obsessed with anything sparkly, pretty and to do with princesses. So she was absolutely beyond excited when my review parcel turned up and she spotted this book. Immediately she asked if we could read it so we did.

The first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous bright and clear cut pictures along with the nice sparkly silver on Cinderella's dress and in the title. I love the fact this book is a funny take on the Cinderella story that we all grew up with an know off by heart. The humor is simple humor that even the younger children can understand.

I really enjoyed how it had pictured the sisters as being "bossy". The term bossy is thrown around lots with children of all ages and to me it is something that they can relate to and is a term they can easily comprehend. They can see the sisters are bossy by the way they treat Cinderella in the story.

My favourite part of this book is the ending. It is not your typical Cinderella ending that you would expect so it is a nice surprise - I won't say anymore as don't want to ruin the ending. I think this is a great book and it would be a book I would definitely purchase for another child and/or give as a gift. Absolutely enjoyed reading this book with my daughter and she loved it to.

Having a beautiful 3 year old daughter of my own who spends half her time dressed up as Cinderella, I knew this book was sure to become a favourite. As soon as I returned home with my review stash Miss 3 jumped up and down in excitement when she saw this book, demanding that I read it to her right then and there.

Instead of the classic version of Cinderella, this book has been renamed Cinderella and her Very Bossy Sisters, and it brings a bit of a humorous twist to a classic story that has been enjoyed for years by many. Reading the book I was quite surprised at the start with just how similar the story seemed to be in comparison to the classic tale, as per usual Cinderella's sisters Greta and Gerta were busy bossing her around getting her to clean, beautify them ready for the ball and in general chase around after them. Cinderella of course in her sister's books was not going to the ball until she received a bit of help from her fairy God Mother who made her a beautiful dress and turned a pumpkin into a gorgeous carriage. At the ball Cinderella was unrecognisable to everybody, but was adored by the prince whom she danced the night away with. Following on the next morning the prince set off to find the princess who made his heart melt and would fit the golden slipper, which of course was Cinderella.

Being similar to the original the story soon takes a turn and adds a new twist when Cinderella moves into the prince's castle, instead of just living happily ever after, which they do everyday but Sundays Cinderella and the prince have the sister's visit them each Sunday , this is the only occasion where it is acceptable for Cinderella to blow huge royal raspberries. This touch of humor added a delightful ending to the book which my daughter and my daycare children loved and found very funny, asking if the reason why they can't blow raspberries at daycare is due to the fact that they're not princesses, of course this is why.

Generally this a lovely book, bright and colourful illustrations with little bits of rhymes and rhythms written throughout it to make a classy classic that wee bit different, as well all of the demands from the sisters being captioned in speech bubbles so that you can tell when a different character is speaking. It is sure to be something that we will read over and over as Miss 3 is a huge fan of all things princess, as are all of the older girls at my daycare.

If you have a Cinderella of your own this would make a great book, or a great for another little princess you may know. I was expecting the book to have a bit more of a twist personally but I think there was enough of a twist for young children to be able to still stay familiar with the general story line. Overall a good book at a fair price.
