My girls (6 and 7.5 years) love lolly cake and often choose it at the bakery or a cafe. I know it is easy to make but I haven't made it for years partly because if it is in the house I will give into my sweet tooth. When I was given the Bite Me Lollie (the spelling is just wrong to me) I knew it would be popular in our house. I was surprised to find out it was only $3.50. It would cost more than that for me to make it.

The carton contained 12 pieces so the four of us had 3 pieces each. We all loved it. There was much more lolly in each piece than we would normally have but no one was complaining. Miss 7 usually complains if she can see coconut on anything but she ate it greedily. It is interesting to note that the coconut is much finer than what you buy in the supermarket so maybe that helped as the texture wasn't as obvious.

The lolly cake was very sweet and chewy even though we had been storing it in the fridge. My girls have been asking for me to buy more but I have yet to find them in store. I will certainly be buying some as they are a hit with us all and would make a great affordable bribe (I mean reward) for the kids.

My mother loves lolly cake or lolly log, and so often would make it for kid's parties or as her plate to take somewhere. As a result, it's one of my favourites too. However, I have never found a commercially made lolly cake that lives up to the test. Not even my local cafes have managed to satisfy my vision of the best lolly cake. You have to bear this in mind when you read the next piece of my review.

I had a group of friends over for our usual board-game night. I put on snacks, and one of the snacks I had there was this lolly cake. I pre-warned them that it was a review product and that they would have to say a few words. For every adult there, the lolly cake came out almost tops. The main issue they had was a lack of wow factor. However, then they started to describe it and compare it to other lolly cakes they had had in the past.

This whole process was quite funny, because it quickly became obviously that this lolly cake was superior to all other commercially made ones they had tried (it didn't best anyone's mums one, but then that would be a very tall order!). One friend remarked, "it's kinda weird how it doesn't fall apart in and around the lollies". He had eaten so many defective lolly cake slices, that he really didn't know thy were supposed to be like what he had in front of him. It was a revelation for him.

I thought this lolly cake was excellent. I liked everything about it. I'm a huge fan of coconut and I liked that this slice has the coconut. I also liked that there wasn't tonnes of it and it was well stuck to the slice so you didn't have that mess coming off your fingers and falling everywhere. I liked the presentation and I thought the overall product was a brilliant idea for morning teas, birthday catering, or indeed hiding in your pantry for after bedtime snacking. I've given it 10 out of 10 because it absolutely deserved it.

Personally, I don't have a sweet-tooth, I have a whole jaw full of them, and out of all the lollies I've tried in my lifetime, nothing quite beats the concept of a bunch of lollies mixed into a cake, let alone one cut up into the perfect snack-sized pieces. The cake was delicious, it was really well bonded, and had a really nice texture. The cake wasn't too moist either, which is always a good thing in the case of sweets like this.

The taste was great, it had a very authentic taste. I also have to admire the quality of this product as well, once when I was a bit younger I made some lollie cake at home, and this tasted very much like what I made, and this kind of stuff always tastes better when it's like the homemade variety. I found that this product was much better after being refrigerated, the flavour came out much stronger, and the firmness that resulted from being in the fridge improved the texture massively.

I found the portion size to be a little small, but then again, I am what my family calls a "bottomless pit", so I suppose my opinion on that aspect really really reliable. LOL Icon In all seriousness, though, I do think that the size of the pieces was really nice, it made these little "bites" really good for snacking on. Considering the low price, I would say that this is a great item to get for things like kids' birthday parties, or as a dessert-themed snack for a games/movie night or even just a small gathering. I would quite happily buy a couple more containers of these, I highly recommend them to any sweet-toothed snack-lovers out there. Smile Icon

When I saw these lollie cake flavoured bites come up for review I was pretty sure that they would be a much welcome treat in my house amongst my partner, Miss 3 and myself. Lollie cake is a bit of a tradition in my partners family with his Mum seeming to make a batch of it up almost weekly, or whenever she has an event such as a birthday party to attend you can almost guarantee she will be there with a lollie cake in hand.

The size of the pieces I really liked - they were small and took just a couple of bites to get through, I really liked this as I often find a whole slice of lollie cake to be way to sickly and sweet for me, but most of all for Miss 3 who has fallen quite in love with lollie cake, however always protests when she sees her piece of lollie cake being cut into a smaller serving, so the fact that she was able to select her own special piece out of the tub without anyone having to cut it up made her very happy.

I thought that this lollie cake had the most amazing texture and taste to it, and in saying that it seemed just as though it was homemade. The biscuit base was lovely and soft and was more like a super yummy fudge than your average store brought lollie cake which I find is often quite hard, crumbly and dry. There was a very generous of what seemed like fruit puff lollies throughout the slice, and you were pretty much guaranteed to get one of these tasty morsels in each mouthful, again these were lovely and soft kind of similar to that of a marshmallow, and they came in a lovely array of colours pink, yellow, green and white which makes for a very colourful treat.

With 12 pieces in a tub these are a cheap little sweet treat to have on hand, I will certainly be buying more of these, in fact I already have.

When I saw these lollie log flavoured bites up for review, I was keen to try them out as my husband is a huge lolly log fan and I am pretty partial to it myself. We'd always eaten the home made version (best made with fruit puffs) but recently we'd been served a mass produced supermarket version which was completely and utterly gross and plastic tasting and it had got me wondering if there are any good store-bought versions out there...

... But I'm pleased to report that these were fantastic, without any artificial taste to them whatsoever. They actually really felt home made and I wished I'd been quicker to hide the packaging from hubby as I may just have had the lolly cake expert fooled into thinking I'd been baking!

I loved that the lolly in them seemed to be a fruit puff or similar, with different flavours coming through with the different colours and the bites really are just as you would expect a decent lolly log to be. The price is comparable to buying a nice packet of biscuits, so a great product to have on hand (they keep well in the freezer until you are ready to serve them) and something I'd consider buying again for sure.

Take this review with a dose of perspective: I never used to like Lolly Cake as a kid, and as an adult I have it rarely - usually if I have bought it as a treat for the kids and happen to be in the mood for it.

That said, this really took me by surprise. I found the texture to be far smoother than most store-bought or mass-produced versions, and I was pleased with the ratio of lollies and fudge... though I would have been very happy had they deviated from the traditional recipe and gone with the variant that includes pieces of glace cherries and/or those little jelly pellets you get in some family chocolate bars. Those things are SO moreish and would have taken these bites to a whole new level for me.

Each bite was a good size, and I would be comfortable giving one of these to my youngest child, 3 to my teenager, and nibbling away on a few myself, saving the rest for another day. I also liked the packaging - Type-1 PET plastic shell that can be re-used for other things (arts and crafts projects or storage) or fully recycled, and a cardboard seal-band that is bright and eye-catching - making it effective on the shelves - while also being informative and fully recyclable as well. Whole-heartedly applaud the packaging decisions.

Overall, this is a "bite" I would be likely to buy repeatedly to share with others. My ONLY issue is that they are best kept chilled for best lifespan, which is fine in Winter but in Summer means I would not feel comfortable storing it anywhere but in the fridge. Removes some opportunities when having guests around, to include them on a 'nibbles' platter in case they get too warm and... I'm not actually sure exactly what would happen to be honest... become unpleasantly sticky, maybe?
