Battlefield 4 product reviews

Battlefield 4 is the genre-defining action blockbuster made from moments that blur the line between game and glory. Fueled by the next-generation power and fidelity of Frostbite 3, Battlefield 4 provides a visceral, dramatic experience unlike any other.

Only in Battlefield can you demolish the buildings shielding your enemy. Only in Battlefield will you lead an assault from the back of a gun boat. Battlefield grants you the freedom to do more and be more while playing to your strengths and carving your own path to victory.

In addition to its hallmark multiplayer, Battlefield 4 features an intense, dramatic character-driven campaign that starts with the evacuation of American VIPs from Shanghai and follows your squad's struggle to find its way home.

There is no comparison. Immerse yourself in the glorious chaos of all-out war, found only in Battlefield.

Spending time with a friend last weekend, we decided to do some gaming like the good old days. Looking through the games library on his Playstation 4, I came across battlefield 4. I had never really played Battlefield prior; I had played a demo of Battlefield 2, but gone no further than that. I originally had decided not to play the game, as we were unable to play together on the local system, but after some encouragement, I went ahead and played the campaign while my friend watched an gave tips on passing difficult areas.

I was expecting Battlefield to be more of a 'SOCOM US Navy SEALS' style of game; very tactical, with low ammo supplies, and a high level of accuracy needed. In other words, I was expecting to get frustrated by this game and give up after half an hour. But the plot and cinematics, got me intrigued, and I went through mission by mission until I reached the end of the campaign 8 hours later. The game is very straightforward, with a variety of "gadgets" provided to assist with the difficult barriers you need to surpass in the game.

While fun, and a much more casual game than I was expecting (my style of spraying bullets everywhere was rather effective), I was a little disappointed by the glitches. My friend had played the game completely on many occasions and had achieved all of the available collectibles, medals, and trophies, and several times, I would be playing and encounter a glitch, which was quickly followed by a "yeah, that happens every time". These gameplay glitches, along with times when the audio would randomly cut out were frustrating, as they broke your concentration, and interrupted your experience. I did find myself laughing at loud at several points, due to the over the top physics in the game, and the plot choices, but overall it was very enjoyable.

There is a large variety of weapons available, and many opportunities to change your weapons (I preferred my shotguns and sniper rifles, switching between up close close quarters combat, and extreme distance accuracy shots). The ability to use 'binos' to identify and mark enemy units was useful, and the ability to set friendly players to attack certain enemy units was a very simple, but efficient way to practice some basic tactics.

I played the multiplayer for a limited amount of time, but I found it to be largely the same as other Multiplayer modes. Kill everyone, use weapons. No real point to it, so I quickly lost interest in it.
