Alice is adorable. With her arms tied in a knot, lips buttoned and eyes blindfolded, she explores her home in a different way every day of the week. See what Alice discovers

Adorable Alice is a story that proves you don't have to go anywhere to have fun. You just need to use what you have along with your imagination. The whole book is set in her home, Alice is a wee girl (about 3 or 4 years old at a guess) that decides she is going to do something different each day. Most days involved using (or not using her five senses).

As well as initiating a discussion about the five senses it also got us talking about the days of the week as each page for the first part of the book is a new day. Half way through the book we were at Friday and I wondered what the rest of the book was going to be about. It turned out that Friday was a very special day with Alice wearing a blindfold and relying on her other senses and having fun with her mother and grandparents.

This is an an adorable book (pardon the pun) that appealed more to my three year olds than my older children as there are only a couple of sentences on each page. My five year old enjoyed predicting what day would come next which the younger children found too tricky.

The illustrations are also designed for the younger child with a simple background and a very cute teddy bear that is goes everywhere with Alice but is never mentioned. I like that Alice's hair is drawn naturally with the odd strand sticking up (she is a child after all and not a super model).

This is a book that my pre-schoolers will happily listen to everyday and I have enjoyed using as a conversation starter that will spark more learning.
