It was time for Little Bear's first winter sleep. "All bears sleep through winter," said Little Bear's mother.
"And we won't wake until spring," said Little Bear's father. "It's a big, big sleep."
Little Bear is in the cave with his mother and father, who have settled down for their big winter sleep. But Little Bear has a problem - he can't get to sleep! He snuggles and sings and softly strokes his ear. Will Little Bear be able to get to sleep before springtime? The text and illustrations intertwine beautifully to present an unforgettable story that will appeal to all children who have difficulty falling asleep.

I was immediately drawn to the cover of Little Bear's First Sleep. I love the simplicity and the soft feel it gives when viewing the cover. I opened the cover and inside was a sweet picture of a cute baby bear. Viewing the first page I was mesmerized by the beautiful watercolour paintings for the illustrations. They are so soft and beautiful, they represent the soft feel of the story perfectly.
The story basically about a young bear cub having their first sleep through winter to spring. The bear had never fallen asleep for the winter before so was unsure on how to do it. His parents feel asleep first leaving him to figure out how he could fall asleep by himself. The story teaches that sometimes we need to be brave and solve the problem ourselves. Little bear soon works out that he needs to snuggle into his parents warmth for comfort and he soon falls asleep. He then wakes up in the spring.
I enjoyed reading this story. It has a really soft, loving feel to it and it's nice to see the comfort the little bear receives from his parents. It reminds me of the huge comfort we are to our child. It really is a beautifully reading story with gorgeous illustrations that we all enjoyed reading as a family.
