I am going to be brutally honest here and I have not seen the movie and do not read comic strips or books. I can appreciate the superhero genre though and my two young kids are getting into this scene through tv shows so it seemed like a good book to give a go.
The book is a hardback which is excellent for wear and tear, has beautiful artwork and bright bold graphics that are easy for a 6 year old to read. Key words are much larger and impossible to miss and if you want to read the story to a younger audience, reading only these larger words will convey the skeleton frame of the story just as well.
Clocking in at around 46 pages it is not a small read and we took a few days to read the story before bed at night. I feel the age group is more suited to 8-12 year olds as the story is kind of complex but again I love the way you can just use the large bold words (about 1 to 4 per page) to read the story which is what we did for our youngest.
It is the kind of book that as a kid you would cherish and keep in to your teens and remember the pictures and the way the pictures are drawn, some thing about the way it is drawn makes you really look at the scene and not just stare at the page and accept that that is a picture of a kid looking at the sky while his mum looks on from the porch of the house. It is drawn and coloured in such a way that you really look at the scene and picture the crickets chirping the cold wind rustling, the creaking of the porch steps and the way the grass feels underfoot.
For the price it is a no brainer, if you have the chance to pick this book up, I think you should.

I had recently been to see Guardians of the Galaxy at the movies and I have three children getting into superheroes so I thought this would be the perfect book to give a try.

My son, straight away, was right into it, he picked it up and started to flick through and was busy going "he's in my superhero book, she's in my superhero book" (from his encyclopedia that we got to review previously) so it was a hit with them both right from the start, even though they needed reminding of the characters names.

I read through it as I was curious as to the difference between the book and the movie as I hadn't know much about the characters beyond the basics and movies are bumped up to make them more interesting. The illustrations are well done and keep the comic book vibe, they're loud and fun and suits the action and characters well. It is written easily enough that once my son and daughter get more into their reading I will be able to leave them to it to read up on their own. This is a well written, fun book that the kids really enjoy and I have to say it is one heck of a great price.

Product reviews for listing 8987: What Colour is the Sky? -  Written by Laura Shallcrass

Product image for What Colour is the Sky?Hare and Pihoihoi are enjoying a beautiful dawn breaking over the meadow when Pihoihoi wonders aloud, "What colour is the sky?"

Hare thinks it is blue, but when they talk to Hedgehog, Snail, Mouse, Frog and Ruru, the other creatures each say the sky is a different colour. Why does this happen?

This book explores the idea that all of us see from different perspectives. Through its beautiful illustrations, it explores the wonder of nature and shows young children the importance of listening and respecting other opinions, even when we see things differently.
