Product reviews...
Wow! I was definitely pleasantly surprised by Nekta Gold Kiwi drink.
I didn't know what to really expect as I do like gold kiwifruit however thought that having the rich juice was going to be way too much. However Nekta has got the balance right to make a nice and refreshing drink suitable for the whole family. So easy to drink.
The initial taste was that of a sweet non sickly pineapple juice and I actually had to check the bottle to see whether it had pineapple juice in it - but no just gold kiwifruit. I actually loved the taste and felt good that it had no preservatives, added colour or artificial flavours.
This was a great treat drink to give my son who has an intolerance to kiwifruit, obviously it is not the juice that he reacts to (maybe the seeds or pulp) as he had not reaction to this juice. I did water it down for him as juice is not normally something we give him or he wants (he is a water kid) however he did come and ask me for more which was a great sign as was keen to get the rich Vitamin C into him during the winter illnesses.
This is definitely a drink that I will be hunting down to buy regularly and am now keen to try the other flavours from this company.
As much as I enjoy kiwifruit, due to allergies in some of my family, it's something that rarely makes it past the "Oh, that would be nice..." stage. Still, on rare occasions, we do get the fruit, but to get the juice was a real treat! Especially the golden, because that's just the apex of this fruit's varieties. I had to warn my wife not to touch it though, as it looked a lot like one of her favourite orange juices.
Drinking this was a delight, with the taste morphing and changing as you tasted and swallowed it, from the early almost-pineapple tastes to the richer, deeper kiwifruit flavour on the end. I really wanted to try making something mazing with this, but I just could not force myself to give up drinking it. I had to force myself to ration it, because it had to last longer than 5 minutes... that was a real struggle, let me tell you!
Since I couldn't actually bring myself to put this in food, I can only give my ideas and suggestions as to how this could be used. While the obvious one (for me) is "in a cheesecake" I need to say that despite it's amazing flavour, it's not concentrated enough to break through the typical cheesecake taste and showcase itself without adding pulped fruit, and that defeats the purpose. So, I would offer this more Summer-oriented suggestion instead: Cocktails! Yeah baby, cocktails. A couple of ice cubes, a good generous splash of this golden delight, a few wedges of pealed peach, a dash of vodka or gin (or even white rum) and a small sprig of mint. Blend it solidly and serve in a tall glass. I think that would be delightful. Maybe make the mint optional.
Overall, this is a drink I plan to buy up in bulk when I see it on special next. I would recommend you consider the same plan.
I have not been a young man for many a year now and while I don't need any special drinks or need to watch my sugar intake as much as I used to, I still like to drink healthy things. For the last few years I have been lucky enough to get a good crop off my orange and grapefruit trees and even the old grapevine that has spilled over from the neighbour's yard, but the one fruit I have never been able to get to take root in the soil here is kiwifruit.
it is not a cheap fruit to buy, so for me it is almost always out of my price range. Pensioners don't get much free money to spend these days and my savings were used up long ago on health bills for my beloved, so these days it is a very frugal life. A chance to get a special treat like this was more than I hoped for so I am very grateful to have been chosen to receive this bottle of liquid gold. That is what it looks like, and that is what it tastes like too.
I was very taken by how sweet and smooth it was to drink, and it was so easy to drink I almost emptied the bottle in the first 10 minutes, but it would have been a shame to do that. I admit I gulped down the first glass, after a trial sip, but then forced myself to put it in the refrigerator to see how it tasted chilled. The answer was - even better. I had a friend from my bridge club visiting that evening, so I asked him to try some too. He agreed that it was astounding, saying "If I could still stand on my own, I think I would be dancing a jig all the way to the store for a few bottles myself. You are a lucky old bugger."
It has been 3 days since I received this now, and there is, to my great pride, still about half a glass worth in the bottle. I am saving it for after dinner tonight. Some of the mokopuna are coming over to cook dinner for me, and I think after their efforts are done, I will need something settling for my poor old puku. These kids do so love their chillis and garlic. My puku does not feel the same, but it would be rude of me to refuse their offer, eh.
Netka liquid gold kiwifruit juice is simply stunning! To all those kiwifruit lovers out there, this is the perfect drink for you. I have known of and brought Nekta kiwifruit juices for years now (only the original version though - green kiwifruit that is). However I have very recently discovered the joy of eating gold kiwifruit so when this juice came up for review I jumped at the opportunity. I have to say I wasn't at all disappointed - this drink tastes exactly like the fruit. I also love that this juice isn't too thin or too thick but the consistency is just perfect. Thicker than water but thinner than a smoothie - you'll have to try it to believe me
After chilling and trying my first glass full of this yummy juice I just knew I had to try it out in some baking. First up I tried making some muffins and substituted the liquid required for the juice. With the batter I made both large/normal muffins and mini muffins, cooking the mini versions for less time. I was really impressed with how these turned out, the juice didn't seem to effect the batter in any negative way and the muffin was still light and fluffy. The flavour was also great and amazingly you could definitely taste the kiwifruit, I say amazingly because I was certain the flavour would get lost somehow! One thing I will say is that by day 3 or 4 these muffins started to feel a little slimly/greasy but then I expected that as they basically had fresh fruit in them. My baby girl (10months) totally loved her mini muffins. As a mum, I really appreciated the benefits from the juice that I knew she was getting when she was eating her yummy treat.
I also made a very simple but delicious peach and kiwifruit crumble by adding this juice. The crumble tasted great and again you could really taste the kiwifruit in there. The only downside was I couldn't take a photo of my creation to do the juice any justice as due to the colour it just looked like peach juice never mind, if that's the only downside then there's nothing to worry about
Having had juice from this range before I was fairly familiar with the benefits of the juice - however when I read the bottle again, it still really amazes me how much goodness is packed into a bottle! Especially in comparison to other juices on the market. I know I will definitely be buying this again in the future for my girl once she's older. I know the time will come when she wants something other than milk and water but I would far rather she had something at least half decent for her. I am also going to strive to remember about this juice the next time I get sick - the level of vitamin C in this juice is great!
Overall this is a fantastic tasting juice, one I will be buying again both to drink and to use in my baking. Totally recommend to others to try - the health benefits alone are worth trying it for
I have looked at this at the supermarket many times and hummed and ha'd over buying some. My 2 year old has constant issues with constipation and although on daily laxatives we look for natural ways to give him a helping hand. We have tried him on kiwifruits but he really doesn't like the texture so refuses to eat them. It's not that he doesn't like the taste as I make kiwifruit muffins which he really loves he just can't handle eating the fruit itself.
When this arrived he was so excited to see juice which was a good sign. We are strict on just water or milk so it is a very rare day when you see juice in the fridge as such it never lasts long as every one goes a little crazy over it. Before the day was out the bottle of juice was all gone. I had the best intentions to make kiwifruit jam which I found a recipe for so will have to buy another bottle one day to give this a go. All I can say is as a drink everyone loved it.
The taste is very sweet I was quite surprised to read in the ingredients that there was added sugar as gold kiwifruit is really sweet itself but I suppose it does have a level of tartness which may require a bit of added sugar. I also noticed there was added vitamin C making this drink very high in Vitamin C so would be perfect for after exercise or when you had a flu for that extra vitamin C boost. I think I read it contains 75% of your daily vitamin C so that is really cool I think.
It definitely tastes like it should like gold kiwifruit as it has no un natural flavourings added and is made with 20% kiwifruit puree. So it really is full of good stuff. For my 2 year old it was a little bit too much and caused the opposite in his problems for the following 2 days. I wonder if perhaps he is a bit intoletant to kiwifruit as he ended up with diarrhea and an awfully sore bottom from nappy rash which he also gets from tomatoes (allergy) and oranges. I think they are just a little too acidic for him as he has a very sensitive gut.
I would definitely buy the juice again for us adults as it really is yummy but would probably only give it to my 2 year old once in a blue moon as it had quite a bad effect on his tummy would be great if the laxatives really weren't doing their job though!! He loves the juice so will be quite hard to hide it from him but I think it is definitely a mummy and daddy treat.
I have seen this juice at the supermarket many times. I always think to myself, I should try that. The thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of Kiwifruit. The flavour is fine, but the end tartness to the fruit is not always pleasant. Worse of all, the fruit comes with that awful hairy skin that hurts my tongue and lips. Overall, I find the fruit pretty unpleasant so I avoid it. But I do like the flavour. I feel the same about apricots and peaches.
When I got this bottle, I chilled it in the fridge. Later I opened the bottle and poured some out. The colour of this juice is golden, and almost could be a cloudy apple/pineapple look. When you think of kiwifruit, you do often think more of a green. But the colour was fine, and fitted with the golden kiwifruit look.
The main thing was the flavour and I found this juice to be delicious! I loved it. All the distinctive taste of kiwifruit, with the sweetness. None of the really sour tartness about it and none of the pain I associate with the fruit. It was a great taste and a wonderful treat. This evening when I had some of my husband's hot sauce pizza, this actually helped cut some of that spicy heat for me too. I really appreciated that too.
My children were given some of this to try. My eldest was not at all interested, but then she is not a huge juice drinker. My youngest drank a few cups of this over the course of the week so far. She is really enjoying the taste and asks for it now at the fridge. Lastly tonight I made a a vanilla and kiwifruit cake, by mixing a cake mix, egg and 3/4 cup of this juice. The cake came out nice and moist with a custardy kiwifruit flavour to it. It was really nice warm with ice cream too. Thanks so much for selecting us to trial this one Nekta and KIWIreviews. I will be looking to get some more at the supermarket now I know what the product actually tastes like.

It's a gingerbeer but not quite as we know it. At 4.5% alcohol, it lives up to its "refreshingly feisty" name.
Ranga is an off-dry style with ginger infused in the conditioning stage. The ginger aromas and palate provide plenty of spiciness and the dry finish gives this Ranga a touch of sophistication. Enjoy it with ice and a dash of lime on a hot summer's day.
