Set in the fierce and frenzied world of Los Angeles street racing, where winning is the way to power, The Fast And The Furious is pure fast-paced, adrenaline-fuelled car action.
Paul Walker (from THE SKULLS) stars as a rookie cop who goes undercover, posing as a racing member in Vin Diesel's (from PITCH BLACK) team, in order to investigate a series of hijackings. Walker finds himself in jeopardy, when some of the gang becomes suspicious of him, and he has to choose where his loyalties lie...

The overall plot for this film is wonderful, though I initially questioned the casting of Paul Walker. I will admit that he eventually warmed up to the role, and it worked well, but in this first installment in the franchise, I was less than impressed with his performance. Vin Diesel did a great job providing the ex-convict with a heart of gold, that despite his criminal actions you come to love his overall morals and ethics.
I have never been a car person; where my friend would say "Damn! Will you look at the engine on that Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX?!" I would respond with "Yeah, it's really shiny", having no idea what car he was even referring to. But without the love of cars, I could still appreciate the plotline of the film. I personally find it silly to race with your car as a prize, but I am aware that the culture is in-fact out there, and it was an eye-opener to the thrills of the races, and the competition that pushes the drivers to the limits of their cars and beyond.
I liked the idea of highway heists, and it reminded me of the old train heists from the Wild West, and it certainly made me smile. An exhilarating film that keeps you on the edge for most of the film.
When told to choose a movie, what else would I choose but a story about street racing and really fast cars. I really enjoyed the movie, the actors were so believable, there was plenty of action, it was a really fast paced movie. I wasn't expecting to enjoy the movie, I was expecting a lot of action which is not my usual kind of movie.
The music was great, not the sort of thing I listen to every day but once in while it is great to relax and forget about life's stress. It is the kind of music that has to be listened to at a loud volume and when the kids aren't around to hear the lyrics and some of the words that are used in the "songs".
I can't really explain what I like so much about the movie as most people don't see me as the kind of girl who would like a story based around street racing and illegal activities and sexy undercover police officers/ FBI agents. I'm not normally an action movie kind of girl but I love this movie.
I have this movie on DVD, I have watched the second movie as I thought it was going to be good, maybe not as good as the first but at least watchable, but it was not. I would watch this movie again, still not sure what exactly I enjoy about this movie but I do enjoy it.
