Smooth and creamy cow's milk feta with less salt but with the same great creaminess as standard feta.
Product reviews...
We are rather big fans of Feta cheese in our house and generally we always buy the Bountor D'or brand as it is such a great price and tastes amazing. Recently while supermarket shopping I picked up this reduced salt version as they were out of my usual go to Feta cheese, and so I decided that there was no harm in trying something that had reduced salt.
I have to say I was a tad worried that the flavour may be compromised being low in salt, but I need not have worried as the falvour was still there, and just as tasty as the usual Feta I buy, if I hadn't have seen the packet I would not have known that it was a reduced salt cheese! It's great to see that Bountor D'or is following suit with many other food products these days and finding ways to make there products a way bit healthier, great for health coincidence people out there who are still able to have there favourite treats due to this!
This cheese has been great to have in the fridge, though it didn't last long, thought o be fair cheese never lasts long in our house! I used it crumbled over top of a salad of lettuce, cucumber and tomato with a drizzle of raspberry vinaigrette and it was delightful. The rest was used up on top of a pizza along with some mozzarella cheese and the combination of these two cheeses together really made the pizza come to life, it was a very tasty combo. It was so easy to crumble, so this was also not a element effected by the reduced content either.
This is going to be my new go to feta from now on from my favourite trusted feta brand, with the same great taste as i'm used to but with reduced salt id be silly not to buy it! I just can't wait until the summer months where I will be buying it more regularly as I just love feta in salads!
Everybody is a big fan of feta cheese in my household. We like to add it to almost everything which is why I was delighted to see a salt-reduced version to make it more guilt-free. Bouton d'Or have done it again! The cheese is quite amazing. Despite the reduced salt content there is no compromise on flavour. It is fantastic to be able to offer my family a healthier option for this beloved kitchen staple. It is also great to see that it is sold at the same price as its regular counterpart. It works well in salads as well as just about any recipe using regular feta. he only small issue I found was that it didn't work so well in courgette and feta fritters as it disintegrated quite badly due to being too watery.
I would definitely recommend it to any fan f feta cheese who is health conscious and wants to enjoy the real feta flavour without the large amount of salt it usually comes with. It is beautifully smooth and creamy but makes an awesome crumbly topping when needed. I will be buying this version from now on in place of the regular feta I used to purchase every week.
I have never been huge on normal cows feta as I find it really salty and strong so have always preferred to go for Goats feta, to be honest I would always pick normal feta out of salads as that is how much I did not like the salty-ness. Goats feta is lovely but on the expensive side and hard to purchase at some stores.
I found the salt reduced feta and thought I would give this ago for a change as the price was very appealing for the same size as a normal feta or goats feta. Wow it was awesome, tastes just like goats feta and way way better than normal cows feta, the only thing that is different is the texture, it is quite soft and rubbery compared to other fetas. It stays fresh in the fridge for sometime and can be used in loads of different dishes just like a normal feta would.
Totally recommend people try this as we get far too much salt in our diet and if you can make one simple change in life by reducing this it has good to be an added benefit right! We have used this on salads, on a cheese board, in cooking. Now BBQ season is upon us more people should try this awesome product.
I love feta and often order Greek salad just for the cheese, so when advised to avoid salt as much as possible I had to find a way of getting some yummy feta that is better for me.
I saw this sitting on the chiller shelf and thought that it would be good to try and if it didn't work out then I would know not to buy it again.
The first test was to try a bit plain which was quickly followed by adding some crackers and then I almost finished the whole block in one sitting. If I didn't know that it was supposed to be reduced salt I would never have known as the taste is almost exactly like the normal feta. The next test was to try a feta and tomato sandwich (yes I know I'm strange) and that was great, I could have had a few more.
I have since bought this product a few times and my kids have tried it as well, one loved it and one said yuck but since feta is not an everyday cheese I wasn't expecting the kids to love it. I'm the only one in the family with special dietary requirements so this is my treat and I don't feel guilty about it.
I will have to try it in a salad one day, if I can stop myself from just eating it plain.

This traditional tomato-based chutney is given a twist with a splash of real stout and natural Hickory smoke flavour. Delicious with any meat, or with cheddar cheese; adds depth to a casserole.
