Ten hopping bunnies with their egg and spoon.
Ten hopping bunnies with their egg and spoon.
And if one hopping bunny drops the egg too soon,
There'll be nine hopping bunnies with their egg and spoon.
Hop to it and come along counting with ten very bouncy bunnies! A very funny bunny version of the popular song 'Ten Green Bottles' Watch as the bunnies have an egg-and-spoon race, go to the library, swing on trapeze and even play hoppity scotch together. A great read-aloud counting book with hidden numbers to spot in every scene!

My in home care children (preschoolers) and I sat outside next to 'our' bunny to read our new book 10 Hopping Bunnies (The children decided we had to sit there). After I read the book through the first time, I got asked to read it again. (Not often is a book asked to be immediately repeated). The repetitiveness of some of the words made this book very enjoyable and attention grabbing for the children. They all enjoyed the illustrations and liked it when I asked where or what a particular coloured bunny was doing. Each number had a page full of different things for the children to look at.
I couldn't help but sing the words along to the tune of 10 green bottles much to the amusement of the children. The children also enjoyed the fact the bunnies were doing things that we do ourselves but was also told the bunnies were very naughty for jumping on the bed. 10 Hopping Bunnies has made it to the top of our daily reading time, but it always left till last as it gets the children quite excited and they end up laughing and going all silly. This book is often grabbed off bookshelf by one child then they all gather together to look at the pictures and have a giggle together, reading the story in their own words with words from the story often popping up.
This is a great book for sharing with a small group or even just one child. The perfect gift for a preschool child who can't quite yet sit through a long story.
Little Miss Three was immediately attracted to this book by the cover with 10 very funny bunnies on it. We have over the last few weeks (always a good test to see if a book holds favour) read this almost every day. Miss three keeps it at the bottom of her bed where her favourite books are kept stockpiled and I often see her at night reading it to herself.
We both love the illustrations and she giggles away at each page. The illustration's are very funny and all different so there is lots to talk about. I was particularly amused when Miss Three started singing the song in the car. We have never sung ten green bottles with her so to be honest this is probably how she thinks the song should go now! I love counting books that are fun and this is a great book to practice Miss Threes one to ten numbers. Although this book is aimed at pre-schoolers it is a great book for my Miss Five and Miss Seven to read as well and Miss Seven will sometimes sit down and Read it to Miss Three whilst Miss Five listens and counts. I do like books that encourage my girls to read together so this definitely gets top marks for that.
With Easter coming up this is a brilliant book to give your little miss or master. I would say it is great from ages 0 (obviously for you to sing to them) up to about age 7/8 years as they can sing/read it to themselves.
