The newest cheese in our range, Italian herb has great flavour, texture and looks great. An Excellent choice for dinner parties and cheese boards but its hard to beat on a Grilled cheese sandwich.
We call it our pizza cheese as the herb blend used is much the same as you would use on a traditional pizza and it also tastes that way too.
They are available in 10 and 5 kg wheels, 1kg blocks and also 150gram retail unit.

Italian herb gouda from Meyer is what I managed to finish off today, it is a great cheese that I found quite easy to use in any recipe that required cheese, even if it has the taste of italian herbs it seemed to work quite well. First off I tried it in toasted sandwiches and it worked really well, it melts to a really nice consistency and I really liked the taste of the herbs within the cheese, not too overpowering with just the right amount contained within.
For some reason we had an abundance of broccoli at home, so while searching the internet with what to do with it I chopped it up and in shook it up in a bag with garlic, this was then roasted to make the broccoli crunchy and I grated the Meyer Italian herb gouda over the top, a pretty easy snack that was quite filling.
The other way I used this cheese was to use it for nachos, it performed well as it seemed to work with the flavours I had going on, but with being such a good quality cheese and in a smaller pack then say a 1kg block of regular stuff, you would only really want to use it for special dishes.
It's been awhile since I've eaten Gouda, years in fact, and my previous memories was that it was outside of the usual budget so when the chance to review these came up it was a big yes from me.
I decided that the best first use for this would be just straight on top of crackers with a bit of margarine as well. Since it was our Friday night movie, and my mum had expressed great interest in trying the cheese with us, it was the perfect chance to get a third opinion on the Italian Herbs Gouda. We all liked the overall taste and all agreed that it tasted like we were eating a pizza (just not as filling), it was nice but it wasn't our favourite out of the three flavours that we got.
Since the cheese tasted like pizza to us we decided that it would go great in a pizza, in some way. This came to me at the last minute and so I ended up making our bases from scratch, adding various herbs to the base as well as garlic. I then decided that why not make my own stuffed crust pizza and so chopped up the cheese and wrapped the dough around it. Whilst the pizzas were cooking I gave some small pieces to my six, four and two year old and they all chowed it down asking for more. Once the pizza was done, cutting in to it, the cheese had melted in really well, the only problem was that it had done so a bit too much and so I would have to put in at least double, if not more to still see the cheese. Still, it added a great dimension to the dish and the kids ate their crusts!!
I'm not sure if I would buy this again, a little too similar to pizza for us,but it was a delicious cheese.
