Dinosaur follows the adventures of an Iguanodon named Aladar, who is separated from his own species as a hatchling and raised on an island paradise by a clan of Lemurs.
When a devastating meteor shower plunges their world into chaos, Aladar and several members of his Lemur family escape to the mainland and join a group of migrating dinosaurs desperately searching for a safe new nesting ground. With water and food in short supply and bloodthirsty predators posing an ever-present danger, the herd faces many life-threatening obstacles during the course of their treacherous trek.
Aladar's innovative thinking and compassion for the "misfit" members of the herd brings him into conflict with Kron, the rigid and stone-hearted leader of the group, and his loyal lieutenant Bruton. Winning support from Kron's sister, Neera, Aladar reluctantly challenges the "traditional ways" and shows how being adaptable and working together is the best path for survival.

I saw this when it first came out in the movies and then when I saw it nice and cheep for sale I just had to grab it, not it is a firm favourite for my four year old daughter and my six year old son.
Aladar (I really love this name by the way) is raised by Lemurs when his egg is dropped on their island, he lives with them, they are his only family, until there is a devastating meteor shower destroying his island and forcing him to leave (with his closest family and friend). He then meets a band of dinosaurs who are trying to find a new home, along the way falling in love, making enemies and trying to stick up for slow and old. Aladar is a great character, really sticking up for those who would otherwise just get left behind.
The characters are well done if a little two dimensional, as in they all have a basic character type that they don't really stray from. The animation is really good and the movie flows very well. It does remind me of other movies with its basic plot of end of the world, animals must band together to find new watering hole, but it still stands apart and my kids watch it almost once a week now.
This is a fun movie and Aladar is fun (boy do I love that name). If you have a dinosaur fan then this is a good film to watch with them.
