This attracted my kids with a nice bright volcano on the front. My kids both of them almost 4 and 5 love volcanoes and every mountain to them is a volcano. Having this book teaches them that volcanos are dangerous but at the same time explains where they are and why they do what they do.

Every page is filled with facts and bright pages to keep attention, while my kids are too young to read and fully understand this book it is great for them to learn a little at a time. There are new words to be taught and facts to be taught, its a great learning book for young children. I love the fact its got maps, charts and timelines, this gives them an idea and later in life though school might be able to use it at school.

Like the other readers, level 1 and level 2 this one has a glossary with simple explanations of the words and then an index at the very back. This book also gives awesome volcano records. Of course there is a digital book that goes along with it, we haven't looked at this yet but I'm sure it will be lots of fun like the other ones.

My five year old, very nearly six year old, has learnt a little about volcanoes but not a lot so even though this is aimed at 7 - 9 year olds it's written with simple enough words that it's still a good book to read along with mum or dad.

Right away it teaches you that whilst volcanoes are highly dangerous and kill, if it weren't for volcanoes our planet wouldn't look the way that it does today. There's a great and simply diagram to show why volcanoes erupt as well as a nice little tidbit about a couple of mountains that are worshipped as gods.

Pompeii, Italy has always been something that catches my mind and interests me, so I was pleased the book touched upon this site and Mount Vesuvius. My five year old raised a lot of questions as I read this book and there were a couple of things in it that I didn't know, so a good read for both of us.

This is a good book, as with the others there is a free digital book download, and the book is a good source of information in a nice and easy to learn manner.
