"With arms to crawl into and laps that are snuggly", Daddies Are Lovely is a great book for a child and their father figure to cuddle up together and read at any time of the day or week.

This is a lovely simple book that is still a fun book for the kids to read. Each page features a different bread of dog along with a differing number of offspring (perfect for showing the range from 1 child families to larger sized families). Each father and puppy is also doing the action that is written down.

Each page only has a very short line, which is perfect for a nice and easy read. My four year old and five year old spent more time arguing about who was which puppy than we did actually reading the book, but it made for lots of laughs and a good bedtime story.

I think that this is a good book for any father figure, but perhaps also a good reminder to those fathers who need to do a little bit more, be more involved in their children's lives. A lovely book that my kids loved.

The cover of this book is captivating so I couldn't wait to get it home and read it with my little Miss Two. Bold lettering and a gorgeous picture of a daddy dog and his little puppy (gender indiscriminate though Miss Two thinks its a boy...) in gloss really make this book stand out.

Polona Lovsin, the illustrator, has illustrated every page with a different breed of dog both daddy and puppy and the illustrations really captivate Miss Two and myself. We have had a lot of fun talking about all the different breeds of dog in the book and she especially loves the dachshund with his four puppies playing on his back. The illustrations really just make you feel happy and the illustrator has really captured the loving relationship between the father and the puppy's.

Each page has a different little expression of what dads do written in bold easily read text. ie Daddies are playful they swing you around accompanied by an illustration of a puppy swinging on dads tail.

I just love this book and so does Miss Two. We have read it at least twice every night and will be gifting it to daddy for fathers day. This book is absolutely perfect to give to dad for Fathers Day and will be twice as special if dad loves dogs! Even better it is on special this month in the Scholastic Brochure. A must for any pre-schooler to share with dad!
