I love muesli, all muesli, every brand, every kind; natural, toasted, with nuts n seeds, without nuts n seeds, with and without fruit. I just love muesli. It is ok with milk, and not to bad with orange juice, but what it is really good with is natural yoghurt (or flavored). So when this was on special one day I bought it. I had been eyeing it up for a while but could not bring myself to part with nearly $10 for a box.
So this luxury muesli is a perfect blend of bananas and apricots, with added nuts, seeds, and oats. It is an extra chewy muesli which I really liked. It was super delicious and very filling with my natural yoghurt. The next day I tried it with a tub if strawberry yoghurt and some fresh banana...perfect! The favors all matched perfectly. So yum!
The next day we tried it in our homemade muesli bar recipe. This is excellent for making muesli bars. The chewiness of it all means the bars are not to heavy, hard or crunchy. And the flavours are yum. We dip half the muesli bars in chocolate as a treat, and that also went very well. Again the price is a shame, but the taste is you, the box is visually appealing, and it has an awesome little window that allows you to see what you are buying. It is true though, luxury comes at a price.
I recently got some of this CafĂ ©-Style muesli when it was on special for $4.99 a box. Anything that suggests a touch of luxury for me in the mornings, gets a big tick in my book. I work full-time, plus with kids and volunteer stuff on top I don't get a lot of time just for me. But at breakfast time, there is about 30 minutes where I don't have to lift a finger for anyone but me.
When you pour a bowl of this muesli, you can see all of the yummy chunks of dried fruit. There are whole banana chips in this, which is one of my favourite things to snack on. There are seeds and cereal and it really lives up to it's name. The only thing I didn't really like about the mix was the dried apricot. I'm not a big fan of dried apricot because it is often too sour for me. However, as this was the only downside to the mix I can't complain too much.
This box lasted me about 5 days. I suspect that my serving sizes were a bit bigger than recommended. However, I don't tend to skimp on cereal in the morning as it is the most important meal of the day! I would definitely buy this one again because aside from the apricot, it was filled with the things I love about muesli. It tastes good, and almost has a spicy-ness to it.
I have been trying to make a determined effort to eat breakfast as it is a meal I usually skip and just have a coffee instead. As I am trying to lose weight and have a balanced diet throughout the day I have started having breakfast with my children just eating what ever cereal they have at the time. I decided to treat myself this week to some muesli which is my favourite breakfast cereal.
This was on special for $6 which I thought was still quite expensive compared to some other breakfast muesli's but it looked like it had everything that made a nice muesli. In the muesli it has nuts and seeds and dried fruit and there is plenty of it all too so you don't have any boring mouthful's. I will say though it is a bit of a jaw workout to eat a bowl as it is so chewy and crunchy.
I like to serve mine with yoghurt instead of milk as it makes it that much nicer. The packet is only small so it doesn't last that long, especially with two adults eating it. I only have a small portion but my partner can eat a huge bowl so we only get a few days out of the box. Due to the price I wouldn't buy this regularly but it is very nice to have as a treat.
