I don't know what is funnier the fact that Sean Austin is addicted to steroids or the various ways Adam Sandler tries to make Drew Barrymore fall in love with him again and again. Such a beautiful romantic movie about the love that could get away the next day purely because she forgot.
After a terrible car accident Lucy is left with short-term memory loss and does not remember anything that happened before that accident, basically her memory is wiped clean every night. Henry who is commitment phobic falls big time and has to find new and original ways for her to take notice.
I love this movie. The leads are perfectly suited and Drew is perfect as the naive Lucy. Rob Schnider plays a fantastic part in the movie and you are smiling from start to end. Its the sort of movie you can watch every other month and doesn't loose any of its appeal. The script, location everything works for it.
It would be extremely freaky though to wake up on a boat in the middle of the ocean and find out that you're married and have a daughter or even just waking up and you're pregnant - don't quite know how that went down for 9 months even if she had a piece of paper that says 'play me' and lets her watch her life in a short movie.
I love Drew Barrymore as an actor I think she is a really pretty down to earth actor who is really good in comedy roles and also think Adam Sandler is a really great actor in comedy movies so they are a great combination in this movie. It is good when two great comedic actors pair in the same movie as you are sure to have plenty of funny moments.
I liked this movie as it did have plenty of funny moments as Henry tries to secure the affection of Lucy who forgets who he is each day and he has to work hard again the next day to win her affection. The storyline is pretty unbelievable as from what I do know about amnesia but as it is a funny movie you don't seem to mind that it is not really realistic.
It does have a warm fuzzy factor with the Dad and brother loving Lucy so much that they do everything they can to create the same days for her over and over again and the love story between Henry and Lucy. Henry who hasn't really commited to any lady before but when he meets Lucy he finds a reason to want to commit despite the challenges he faces in winning her heart.
Henry hates commitment, he frequently just sleeps with tourists and when the time comes to end it he makes up lies, whatever is most useful at the time. One day he meets Lucy and they have a nice breakfast together. He sees her again the next day but she treats him like a stranger. Eventually he learns that she has short term memory and so he sets out to make her fall in love with him every single day.
For the romantic in me this is such a lovely idea. For someone to love another so much that they do everything they can to make that person fall in love with them over and over again, possibly forever? -sigh- The romantic side of this is simply oozing in sweetness.
This movie also has plenty of funny moments. And as with Adam Sandler movies keep an eye out for repeat actors that he has in almost every movie that he has starred in, it's quite nice to see that kind of a friendship and always helping out. There's plenty of laughs in this film, so if you aren't into romance but your friend/partner is, then there's still something for both to enjoy in this film.
