Wowers this is definitely a book that I would never think about buying when I go to the bookstore but boy was it a funny and interesting read. As I jumped aboard the fishing boat with famed New Zealand fisherman Sam Mossman as he shares his tales and adventures from his lifelong fishing from all his adventures and experiences on water.

Sam takes the reader on many memorable fishing journeys around New Zealand and the rest of the world, he visits Hawaii, the South Pacific Islands, Australia, the United States, Canada, South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, he explores watery hotspots both exotic and familiar spots within New Zealand.

It's a collection of stories packed with adventure, information, humour, local colour and exciting fishing experiences, Sam really has been there done that, pursuing some of the planet's most outrageous finny species in freshwater and salt. As he says himself ~ 'It's a big, wide, wonderful world out there, full of amazing things to see, exotic cultures to experience, interesting people to meet and exciting new fish to catch.'

The book itself features large colourful photographs which is appealing to the reader as the photographs showcase the many wonderful fish that are caught and for me it helped me understand what he was talking about having that visual aid to help as I wouldnâ ™t know what fish was what.

I must admit that I didnâ ™t read the book word for word and some pages I skimmed through but I still got the gist of the book and would totally recommend it to all blokes out there that enjoy this sort of recreational sport or would make a great present at Christmas, birthdays or even Fathers Day for that special man in your family.

Product reviews for listing 8873: Mrs Chippy the Cat
Written by Susan Brocker

Product image for Mrs Chippy the CatThis is the heart-warming story of Mrs Chippy, a tomcat who was a loyal and loved companion to the ship's carpenter and crew on Ernest Shackleton's 1914 expedition to the Antarctic aboard the Endurance, captained by New Zealander Frank Worsley. The cat proved to be a great rat-catcher, and the crew felt he was their lucky charm.

The ship's carpenter, Chippy NcNeish, is buried in Karori Cemetery in Wellington, and a statue of the cat lies on his grave.

The unique and quirky illustrations are by Raymond McGrath.
