My girls are big fans of Chuggington and used to love watching it on Kidzone when it was on Freeview. Sadly they don't get to watch it now except when we rent it from the library or video store. Most pre-schoolers I know are either Chuggington or Thomas fans. My girls don't have much interest in Thomas but their eyes lit up when I bought the new Clickety Clack DVD home. It will be the first one we have owned.

The Chuggington trains are trainees and as such make mistakes but they always have the best intentions in the world. What child (or adult for that matter) couldn't relate to that? In one episode the defect detector breaks and Emery decides to fill in but he is overly critical and sends too many trains to the repair shop at once. The result is chaos.

My girls state that Koko is their favourite engine. That is probably because she is the only female engine. The creators of Chuggington have gone out of their way to make several of the characters female. Vee the announcer and Dr Ling the scientist are both females in important roles.

With six regular episodes and two badge quest ones there is plenty of traintastic (sorry for the Chuggington vocab) viewing. It definitely appeals more to the pre-school age group but my 4.5 year old engages in it. She asks those annoying but educational why questions through out.

Apart from the theme song that is so catchy it gets stuck in your head. I enjoy watching Chuggington. It promotes good values for my girls especially when teaching the importance of owning up to your mistakes and apologising. Thanks KIWIreviews and Roadshow for giving us this great DVD.
