Pramface product reviews

Meet Jamie, 16, and Laura, 18. They are two teenagers who - after one too many drinks, some deceptive party lighting and an available bedroom - find they have one very big complication on their hands. Laura (Scarlett Alice Johnson - Adulthood) is pregnant. Only problem is, she's meant to be heading off to university and Jamie (Sean Michael Verey - Skins) is way too young to be considering raising a kid.

Prior to this, the extent of his responsibilities was doing his homework and managing his pocket money. Pramface brings humour and heart to a tricky subject, as it follows these two unexpected parents-to-be as they try, and frequently fail, to negotiate family, sex and what happens once nine months is up...

I had never heard of Pramface until I it was offered for review. The blurb, two teenagers faced with the reality of an unplanned pregnancy as a result of a reckless one night stand, appealed to me so I was pleased when I got it. When I started watching the first episode I really wondered what I had got myself in for. The first half of the first episode was very dull. Reflecting on it now I think it was because they had to introduce the characters and show that they weren't just reckless teens.

I only continued watching it because I believe that to give a fair review I needed to give it a descent go. I am really pleased I did because before I knew it I was laughing so much I risked leaking. I watched the first DVD (4 episodes in one sitting) partly because of the humour but also because I wanted to see how the plot developed.

My favourite character is Jamie's best mate Mike, who did several things that reminded me of the American Pie movies. I totally agree with the M rating the censors gave the DVD set due to the language and sexual references. I am pleased to see that a second series has just finished airing in the U.K. I'm looking forward to watching these too.
