Sarah & Duck: Lots of Shallots and other stories product reviews

Meet Sarah, seven years old, with big eyes and a green hat who lives with her quacky, flappy best friend, Duck. en path and a red front door. Together they embark on simple but exciting adventures, exploring their world both near and far in their own wobbly and imaginative way - trying to reach a rainbow, pretending to be a penguin or helping an umbrella to stay dry! Every step of the way they are guided by The Narrator who offers helpful suggestions and makes sure they don't go too far. And they are joined by other friends and neighbours - Small Scared Bug, Scarf Lady, Lots of Shallots and Scooter Boy.

My 3 year old son has been watching this series on KidZone channel and he really loves Sarah and Duck. So he was so excited to see a copy of this DVD turn up to be reviewed. It had barely been in the house 5 minutes before the DVD player was turned on and the viewing began. I think he found there was even episodes he hasn't seen before on TV so he was pretty excited about that. He watched all the episodes right through being that it was a rainy day and he didn't lose any interest before the end.

The series is super cute and has nothing in there that is frightening to preschool children. I like children's programmes like these that have simple innocent stories suitable for little minds. My favourite story on this DVD was that of scarf lady she was such a likelable character and she knits Duck a nice scarf but its not for his neck its for his bum to keep his bum warm. The Shallots are also very likeable characters, they are little shallots that talk which my 3 year old thinks is ridiculous.

The programme follows Sarah and her pet duck known simply as duck and is narrated as well so you have a voice guiding Sarah and Duck along the way. The narrator voice adds another element and he offers Sarah helpful advice and suggestions when she encounters problems. The theme song isn't too bad so it doesn't annoy you hearing it between every episode like some DVD's can although yes it does get stuck in my head and I find myself walking along humming Sarah and Duck.

All in all this is a great DVD of a very cute children's television series. It will surely be a favourite on the shelf for a while in this house would love to see further episodes of this series in the future.
