I have often been to other parts of Lindale over the years but had never had children with me until our recent visit. The Lindale complex is very easy to get to with an underpass under State Highway 1 and ample parking. The farm was a handy place to entertain the kids while the grandparents and other members of the extended family were having a stroll through the shops and enjoying the cafe.

When we arrived at the farm we were the only ones there. We were a group of 3 adults, a four year old, nearly three year old and 17 month old. We were only charged for a family pass as the farmer called us "Intrepid Farmers" on doing this in the drizzle. We also purchased a bag of animal feed for each of the older children.

Most of the feed disappeared on the hens and ducks that were near the entrance. They were so demanding that my wee nephew felt intimidated so was quickly taken to see the other animals. The area were the hens and ducks were was also the playground and picnic area. Although the older children raced over to play on the equipment they stopped when they got up close as it was all covered in bird droppings. I was grateful we hadn't planned on eating there.

Down the hill there were lots of paddocks with different animals in them including sheep, alpaca, pig, goat, emu, horses and donkeys. It was obvious that the staff on the farm put their effort into caring for the animals. The animals all rushed over to the fence to greet us every hopeful of being feed. We all enjoyed patting the animals. The path was very steep in places and if taking a stroller it would need to be an all terrain type.

The best part (and not just because it was out of the weather) was the barn. There was an area where you could climb in with the rabbits. There were also guinea pigs, rats and a parrot. I saw empty cages which implied that they have other animals at times too.

My girls excitedly told the rest of the family what they had seen on the farm. They obviously enjoyed themselves. To me the place has lots of potential and although the animals should be the number one priority a bit more work needs to be done on making it visitor friendly.
