Life of Pi product reviews

A visual explosion for the eyes. From the open scenes from India you are left thinking what an amazing colourful world we live it. The colours are so bright and the animals so different and magnificent.

The story is told in such a beautiful way that you feel like you are taking the journey with them. Pi was relocating with his parents and brother to Canada from India. They are moving along with the animals they own via the sea. When the boat tragically sinks in the middle of the ocean Pi finds that he is the only human survivor along with a few of the animals. Although the scenes with the animals being killed after the boat accident left me turning away it was still told tastefully and was not too in your face. As in the wild only the strong will survive and Pi finds himself alone with Richard Parker a beautiful Bengal Tiger. Through trials they begin to rely on each other.

You are never left bored through out this movie or looking at the clock waiting for it to finish instead you are reminded of how incredible this planet is. I was just so amazed at how it kept your attention from the start to the end and how vibrant the colours were. I loved the whale scene and how bright and non threatening the ship looked under the water.

A lovely movie. The end leaves you drawing your own conclusion and gives you something to discuss with your partner / friends.

Ever since seeing the trailer for Life of Pi, I knew I had to see it. The trailer felt like Eat, Pray, Love. I knew the film was based on a book and thought it might touch on self-discovery and awakening of your true path, etc. I usually enjoy that sort of movie, largely because of the beautiful locations they are shot. They are usually beautifully filmed, with a uplifting tale. Something that leaves you feeling fulfilled as you walk from the movie theatre into the day afresh. Life of Pi starts in India, and the cinematography is stunning. In fact it is stunning all the way through. So much perfection in every shot. I could hardly contain my delight at all the details and the majestic way it comes together on the big screen. Do yourself a favour and see it at a theatre, honestly!

It opens in the Zoo and there were so many moments when I thought "Oh I wish my daughter was here". She just adores animals and the scene setting shots were filled with the most wonderful exotic animals. Some I had never seen before. Some I was very familiar with, especially as my daughter likes to pretend to be a humming bird or a flamingo at the moment. So much beauty, makes you fall in love with India all over again (since Eat, Pray, Love and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel).

The tale follows a boy called Pi from birth, his early childhood and struggles right to the decision which would change his life forever. There is a storm, and a shipwreck. Its a very intense piece, followed by another incredibly intense scene where I thought to myself "thank goodness I'm here without my daughter". So much bad, packed into one small part. But it was necessary. It was really symbolic of the message the story is trying to tell you. Survival of the fittest, self-preservation, brains over brawn, all these things run through your mind as you take this incredible epic journey with Pi. Some of the things that happen are so incredible you will wonder how crazy he is. Some of the things that happen are so triumphant. And some are so tragic, you wonder how he will continue on.

This film absolutely blew me away. When it ended I was left with questions. I was left with a sense that I had experienced something amazing. And I was left unable to believe the world outside of the theatre. I honestly stumbled from that theatre and out into the street, and it took me a good 10 minutes to compose myself to drive home. That might have been to do with the 3D of course, which was good. But I don't believe necessary to enjoy the experience at all. What it added to, it added well but otherwise there isn't enough action to truly warrant it Overall, I'm still reeling a bit from the impact the story and the visual beauty had on me. I absolutely loved this movie.
