I had only heard of a couple of These Four Walls songs when I first saw them live when they opened for Disturbed in Christchurch last year. I was, at that point, amazed at the shifting sounds of the band. I was very much looking forward to the upcoming album they said they were working on at the time.

The album, their second, was released just this week and as expected the songs ranged from pop rock to heavy rock. The singer's range is quite astounding going from head banging heavy to soft tones in the same sentence reminding me a bit of Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.

In terms of the composition, In my view this is the only negative I have of the album, the album itself possibly could have done with a bit more time at the desk as it just didn't sound as clean as one would expect from a bands second album - (Whether or not that was what the band were looking for I am unsure). The difference in contrasting song styles does detract a very small amount from the overall listening experience due to there being no general flow from song to song, It does sort of play into your mind you may be listening to a compilation album a couple of times. Don't get me wrong however, All the songs on the album are extremely good and manage to showcase the bands strengths and broad range from song to song very well. I just believe they could have arranged the songs on the album to flow into each other a bit better. (Maybe I was expecting too much from a band with such a range in music styles?)

Overall I really enjoy the album and it is well worth a listen. The good thing with this album is it can appeal to most peoples music tastes from Pop to Heavy Rock and may introduce people into either category that normally wouldn't consider listening to either styles.

I for one am happy with the purchase and have already added a number of the songs to my iPhones playlist (have just changed the order of the songs a bit)
