My daughter has grown up with Marvel characters. She has had kids books and board books and even some comics read aloud to her.So when I got this movie book I thought for sure she would enjoy it. We sat down and started reading it one evening. I liked the glossy cover and we looked at it for a wee while. I explained who all the characters were. She knew who Hulk was from her board book about him. Everyone else was a mystery to her.

Inside the book, I liked that the glossy photos continued. From an adult point of view, the book looks great and is a great companion to the movie. Its relatively G rated inside, and gives enough information about prior to the movie and what happens during it. I liked the way each character is touched on and their personalities come through.

However, my 5 year old was bored by page 17. And prior to page 17 she kept going off to get things or look at toys, so I knew I had well lost her. I suggested stopping the book and she had no issues with me stopping. If she had been interested at all, she would have cried at the suggestion. So I guess the story just didn't capture her imagination. I know she really enjoyed the Spidey books we got recently. Potentially it was because of the photos of the characters rather than cartoon presentations. Or it could have been a bit too wordy per page. In any case, I felt this would probably suit a 8 - 9 year old better. They could then read it themselves as well.

This review is done by a 9yr old so its done from her perspective of the book.
It's a book more for children, I can tell this from the big glossy pictures and the type of lettering used. It is a paperback and there is 64pages in the book.

The story tells the reader a background of each character in The Avengers, before Nick Fury made it. You see that each of the individual characters has around two pages each so it is nice and easy to read.

I liked the fact that if didn't tell me what actually happened in the movie before I watched it. But, after watching the movie, I found the book only tells the reader only some of the story, I felt that the story suddenly finished with out readers knowing.
