Science at your fingertips
People often describe Klutz books as hands-on, but we've never been quite this literal about it before. The Hand Book comes with a life-sized skeleton hand. It's an irresistible invitation to find out what goes on under your skin.
Assembling the 22 snap-together, custom-molded bones is rewarding in itself. And when you're done, you've got a scientifically accurate, movable model on a sturdy display stand, ready to help you discover what makes your own hands so remarkable. Working in collaboration with a team of experts, including a hand surgeon, a hand therapist, and a slew of 11-year-olds, the scientists at Klutz Labs have come up with tons of intriguing, educational, and just plain cool hand activities.
Test your digital dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Find out what you can do that a chimpanzee can't. Learn to read the secrets hidden in a hand -- fingerprints are just the beginning. Our point is this: Beyond its eye-catching appeal, this skeleton hand is a serious learning tool. And if you happen to leave it some place where it will scare your sister, that's just a bonus.

The Klutz Hand Book is a great and fun book. This book comes with a make-your-own skeleton hand and loads more fun activities for you to do.
One of the activities I enjoyed was the page teaching you the American Sign Language. This is different from New Zealand's sign language. Another activity I enjoyed was the page showing two cool handshakes you and your friend can do. There is one for girls and one for boys.
I recommend this book for both boys and girls betwen the ages of 7-10. I am 13 and personally think I am too old for this book, but it is still a very cool book. If you're looking for something to do on a rainy day where you can make a hand, learn something new, and have some plain old fun, then this is the book for you.
Ok the Klutz hand book is awesome, and we are very keen to look into more Klutz books! What a wonderful learning source.
The only problem we had with the book was putting the hand together. Ok so it seems like a simple enough task, however turns out we did need the instructions. Master10 was unable to connect the pieces together himself though, as they do not just slide together, they actually require a little bit of muscle to join, and unfortunately his father did break one of the join pieces when putting it together. A little glue resolved this issue very quickly though.
Once all put together what a terrific hand it is! The amount children and adults alike learn from this simple hand and this awesome book is amazing. It is a fantastic tool. Master10 has taken his hand model to school along with the book and the teacher is going to use it as a fun learning lesson for the kids next week.
Definitely an awesome, awesome item, that we are over the moon to own. Not only is it fantastic for teaching but yes the kids do have a lot of fun with it too.
Well done with this one, it is brilliant! The price is possibly more than I would normally pay, but a decent enough price that if I knew what could be learnt from it I would buy it.(hope that makes sense.)
The Klutz Hand Book is a science-filled book containing lots of cool facts that will blow your mind. This book has great content; with info about the human hand that I didn't know before, like what those lines on the tips of our fingers are really for. In the book there were also some fun activities, like shadow puppets, secret handshakes, even a whole page that teaches you sign language, all with simple instructions that were easy to understand.
I loved the skeleton hand for the fact that it moved like a real hand, but I think it would be cooler if it were remote-controlled. It was both fun and tricky to build, and I had loads of fun playing with it. The step-by-step instructions on how to build the hand were easy to follow, but they weren't vital to building the model. You could easily assemble it without the instructions if you thought about it, which is even better than just following the instructions. Try it!
The name of the book was rather funny, the title "HAND book" was suitable since the whole book was based on hands, but I found the price a little higher than what I think is suitable. I would recommend this book for people 6-13 years old as the info is all kid-friendly.
I enjoyed the Klutz Hand Book very, very much, and I think I will find it very "handy". Get your copy today, and let the journey of discovery begin!
