I got one of these a while back but because I am a typical kiwi bloke who buys mainly wash-n-wear stuff like t-shirts and creasefree pants, there wasnt much call for an ironing board cover. But recently I had to evict the moths from the old suit and give it a spruce up so I could attend a semi formal dinner for work. The usual christmas dinner.
With a need to iron the good shirt after washing the mothball smell out of it, it was time to give this thing a spin. It fitted to the board easily enough, no dramas there. I cant say I noticed anything spectacular but I do recall ironing being a lot more annoying last time I tried it than it was this time. I am also certain it used to take ages longer than this time too.
All in all this is a very handy little unit to have, if you iron regularly. For those of us who iron maybe once or twice a year, and even then its only a couple of important items, then you may or may not find this worth having. It does work. It does save time. It does make the job easier. So its up to you to decide if its in your best interests. It gets my vote though, and I might even start ironing more now that its not such a pain to do. My only gripe is that I would prefer one in a plain flat colour. Patterns just give me headaches.
I had seen these many times advertised on TV (both this brand and some of their competitors) and I kept thinking to myself I have to try that one of these days, well this was my time to try it.
Fitting it is as simple as placing it over the ironing board and your ready to go.
To test it I got a nice and wrinkled shirt fresh from the wash and put it on the board, warmed up the iron and off I went.
I must say I was surprised, it did exactly as it said it would and reflected the heat so that both sides were ironed at the same time, also due to the type of material the cover is made out of it also wiped out all the slipping I used to get when I was ironing on the board by itself. This is a good thing, but it also means I have to change the way I iron and remember to lift the item i am ironing up to move it rather than just slide it like I used to do before, but this is something i'm willing to do in order to cut down on my ironing time .
