My daughter adores these blocks. They are for the age group 9mths+, but my 3 year old loves them. She carries them around everywhere with her, even if we go out in the car, the blockimals - at least one, sometimes all three of them follow!
My daughter loves the colours used and she is having fun learning about the different animals. Each animal has it's own little activity. In this set the tiger clicks, the mouse squeaks and the duck rattles.
Overall these blocks are a great idea, and are definately appealling to the 9mth - toddler age range (especially when the toddler can name the animal and say what colour it is).
Great work Playskool.
My youngest has just turned a year old and is often fascinated with the strangest things... alas, these didn't suit him much it seems. He enjoyed playing with them when they were open, and he was able to close them up pretty well, but getting them open again without adult help proved too frustrating, so it was back to his utter and still favourite toys, the Clipo blocks and animals in the lounge toybox.
Overall, I personally thought they were quite cute and would have been really entertaining, but it seems he didn't agree and easier toys won the day. They seemed durable enough to handle a bit of rough'n'tumble play, especially when all sealed up in their closed shapes, and the three geometries would be excellent educational tools that would keep their attention as they grew. I would suggest these toys are more appealing to an older age group, perhaps 18+ months old.
My 2 year old daughter has so much fun with these blocks, she can identfiy what the animals, the noises they make, and she can also say what colours they are. She has started taking them to bed with her. They say 9mths+ but my 2 year old thinks they are just the best thing.
They were a bit hard for her to open at first, but with a little bit of help she thought they were pretty neat with the different sounds they make, and she thought it was fun stacking them and then pushing them over. The colours are nice and bright and each animals has a different surprise waiting inside. In this pack there is a, cow which makes a clicking sound, a which pig which turns around in a circle, and the roster squeaks.
Overall they are a great toy to play with, easy to stack and a great way to get your child used to the different sounds toys make.

"I like to pick up hitchhikers. When they get in the car I say, "Put on your seat belt. I want to try something. I saw it once in a cartoon, but I think I can do it."
