From the minute babies are holding things puzzles become a favourite! These are no exception to the rule and what's extra great about these is that they are really chunky and little hands can grab at them with ease. You can't go wrong with sea life and animals, with most children taking an interest in these at some stage! I've brought quite a few of these now, mainly as presents as I know how great they are. Wooden puzzles are built to last and with these there are no knobs that can be pulled off or broken so can continue to be passed down through the children and/or families.

I also really like the fact that the picture of the required puzzle piece is on the puzzle board making it easier for children to identify where each piece needs to go. There is nothing better than promoting children's sense of capability and developing there "I can do it by myself" attitude.

I like the fact that these puzzles are multi-use, not only can they be used in the pure sense of a puzzle, for the activity involved but they are also great as a prop for imaginary play. As an early childhood teacher I've come across this numerous times as children are walking the animal along, giving it a voice and a place to live! There's also so much learning involved - maths with the puzzles, names of animals n sea creatures, colours, science n so the list goes on

All in all every child will love puzzles at some stage and they can be used for such creative purposes, I definitely recommend these to others Smile Icon

I like the fact that the animal pieces are chunky and are easily grabbed out of the wooden puzzle tray by little fingers. Not only is this activity a puzzle but the puzzle pieces can be used by young children in their imaginary play as well. All children love animals and many of them love learning the names of animals so straight away young minds are drawn to puzzles and activities that interest them visually. The bright colours of the puzzle is another bonus and will keep children coming back to the puzzle over and over again.

It is a great idea having the picture of the animal on the bottom of the puzzle board so when the children are younger they can identify easily and match the same animals giving them a sense of accomplishment and pride of finishing the puzzle all by themselves.

Wooden puzzles will never go out of fashion and are long lasting, and promote all aspects of children development, hand-eye co-ordination, self-esteem, verbal communication skills as they say the animals names, extending their concentration skills and developing their fine motor skills as they strengthen their fingers and hands.

All in all wooden puzzles should be in every household for young children to learn and have fun from!! Go out and buy one now....

I don't own any of this puzzles (yet) but we had the great pleasure of visiting a place the other day where these were out for playing with. My daughter was instantly drawn to them. Although I suspect she is a bit old for them, they definitely had great appeal.

The puzzle pieces are nice and chunky, and are all very colourful and well decorated. Because the pieces are chunky, your child isn't limited to just putting puzzle pieces back in the frame. They can actively play out role-play games and scenarios with the pieces.

This toy is so versatile, fun and definitely good value. I'm going to be on the look out for them next time I'm in a toy store.

This proved a very interesting puzzle to both my 7 month old son and my 3 year old son. It was a great medium for interaction between the two of them and was suprisingly enjoyed by both. My older son was able to name all the creatures and enjoys educating his younger brother, telling him what each one is and what they do, and who is friends with who! He also shows his younger brother how to do the puzzle. My youngest son loves the big bold bright shapes and can grasp them all easily and they are large enough not to be a hazard to him. He studies them for ages in his hands turning them round and moving them from hand to hand. He also puts (slams) them onto the board and has by fluke got them in the right place a few times (much to the delight of his older brother). I really think this toy would be better recommended for a younger age group - maybe 12 months plus. I have no negative comments or improvements to add to this toy.

This product is a little old for my 17 month old daughter as a puzzle. But it does say 2+ on the packaging.
She does like the animals just as toys to play with, she carries them around and says their names and noises.
I like the thickness of the animals so they can stand on their own and be a toy as well as a puzzle. It gives added value to the product.
I think the choice of animals is good, not too obscure, yet interesting.
The characters and colours of the animals are friendly and attractive.
I like the other subjects of the other puzzles in the range and think it is a good idea to have the images of the range on the packaging.
I would like the ability to put the puzzle back into a box, cardboard sleeve, something, to hold it all together when storing it. I would hate to loose the bits.
On the packaging it says it meets US standards but as the product is sold here it should say it meets NZ standards too if it does.
I think it is a little expensive, I would prefer a price of $15 as you can buy nice wooden puzzles for $9 some places. It would be too expensive for me to buy even as a gift.
