We all love a good toasted sandwich. But sometimes we can't be bothered making them. Now Watties has solved that problem with their new range of pre-prepared Toasties.
These are a true heat and eat snack. Simply take one out of the freezer, drop it in the toaster and you're away laughing. Toasties come in a range of flavours including Baked Beans; Ham, Cheese & Onion; Cheese & Onion; Corn & Cheese; and Cheese Lovers.

Perfect packed lunch or quick and easy snack. I love toasted sandwiches and these were a favourite in my household. If we didn't have anything organised for lunches we would just pull these out and throw them in a lunchbox. A couple of turns in the toaster, crisped them up perfectly and they were good to go...if no toaster was available they were heated in the microwave, they didn't go crispy but were still all good in my book!!
I thought the flavour Wattie's Toasties - Ham, Cheese and Onion was the best, but I would eat whichever ones were available at the supermarket come shopping day. One thing I didn't like was how the crusts were cut off, as I enjoy eating the crusts on toasted sandwiches plus the crusts full you up!! The Toasties were too small for my liking because they were missing the crusts, they were probably cut off to make the Toasties look more appealing and give them a more perfect rectangular shape!
I would buy them again however as they are handy to keep in the freezer and pull out at the last minute for lunches or a tasty snack.
Probably my favourite of those listed. Plenty of flavour. Easy to cook. Great to use as a base and stack stuff on them for a meal or just on their own for a snack. These ones got taken on a bit of a trip with some mates out into the bush on a hunting trip. We cooked them up in an old fish-smoker rack over a campfire and they turned out pretty well considering, even with a touch of manuka smoke and a dollop of Watties tomatoe sauce for added flavour eh. Of course they were cooked from thawed coz after 5 hours hiking around the hills looking for a deer track and a decent spot to pitch camp there wasnt much chance they would stay frozen. A pretty handy snack to have on hand if you go bush. They dont take up much room in the pack and weigh nothing.
Probably one of the better ones in the range, this one had plenty of flavour, including a somewhat 'smokey bacon' taste more than ham. The cheese was quite rich, as with all of the Toasties, which is great because who would want to eat a blandwich? But I have to admit I couldn't taste much of the onion in this, the smokey bacon was really the dominant flavour.
Quick and easy to cook up, from thawed as per instructions, or from frozen, as per reality and experimentation. Not my utter favourite, but definitely right up there and could easily be my preferred choice depending on my mood.
Probably my 2nd favourite of the flavours, this is one YUMMY sandwich! I got so impatient I tried to thaw them in the toaster... and made an amazing discovery... you can COMPLETELY ignore the instructions' requirement to thaw them first! First pass through the toaster will thaw them nicely, flip them over (because most toasters will not toast evenly on both sides because of how the elements are wound) and put them through for a second pass. Grab a plate, carefully snatch them out and onto the plate, leave them to cool a little for a minute or two, then snarf away!
You will NOT be satisfied with just one packet... which is why these don't rate higher on the Value for Money scale... an almost $7 snackfest... if you are lucky. Get the grumbly tums and you could easily chow down a 6-stack of toasties, and there's the best chunk of $10 gone, leaving you with a burp and parking meter money.
Overall, by far one of the better ones, running 2nd only to the classic Cheese 'n' Onion. Some extra flavours I would LOVE to see are "Spaghetti" (after all, Watties do the best darned canned spag on this fair ball of rock), 'Ham and Cheese' (skip the onion please, water) and maybe 'Ham, Cheese & Tomato' (I know, freshness issues and frozen toms are yuk... but a guy can wish can't he?)
