Would not go here again ever! - spent over $100 - travel over an hour, get home, missing item.... ring up and get told someone would call... no one called... go in next day. and still no burger or no refund... just an 'online' code... what a joke... no thanks, I am not interest in spending any money with you every again. Your service sucks, and I don't have to put up with that. I vote with my feet. if you do go in here, I strongly recommend you check your order before you leave.... otherwise, you're likely to not get what you paid for, and you're in for a convoluted process to resolve that, which will most likely end up with you just giving up... and not getting what you ordered anyway.

AVOID. I would strongly suggest that the New Plymouth branch has a good look into its own service, and looks to ensure that their customer service improves. I would suggest that it also does not tell customers it will call if it does not intend to actually make that call, that is a further disappointment. This 'code' thing is also a total waste of time... how about a replacement or refund!

Just thinking about writing this review is making me hungry. Burger Fuel's main item is obviously burgers so that is what I normally order. I have ordered takeaway from them multiple times and have never been disappointed. They mix up their offerings with new items every now and then and those have also never let me down. So, for taste and consistency of quality, this quick service restaurant is a step above the rest. Overall, if you have not tried them before and have the money, I recommend that you should give them a visit.

I could imagine their chicken burgers are also delicious, but I have yet to venture there. The only other item I have tried are their motobites, which are divine. They are crumbed carrot, pumpkin, chickpea and ginger round morsels that are served with free range lemon or chipotle aioli. They may not sound tempting, but the combination goes together extremely well. Furthermore, you feel like you are eating something healthier than fried spuds.

As for price, they are a bit more on the expensive side so combined with the fact that they are not the healthiest of food options, I go here as a special treat rather than a regular thing. If price is a deterrent for you, be sure to sign up for their VIB member rewards email list. You will get a great surprise on your birthday and be notified of new items and promotions. Sometimes they have a buy one get one free deal for special items!

Store: The Base, Hamilton

Burger Fuel is one of my favourite takeaway joints to go to, though it is a lot more expensive than most places so it is not often that we go there! The burgers are gourmet which helps to make them all that more special, and size wise they are HUGE! Not only are there burgers amazing, but they have the yummiest fries which they call 'spud fries' which come with the most tasty aioli that I have ever experienced (it's sooooo good that I have to order 4 or 5 more pottles of it to keep at home for when I cook oven fries! It really is that good). The other fantastic thing I have to comment on is the super delicious malt shakes they make with such a great variety of flavours available.

The restaurant at The Base in Hamilton is quite well sized and is only a few years old so in great condition, there is always plenty of room to sit at a table if dining in and they also have an outside dining area which is great for the hot summer months, the shop always seems clean and tidy and the paper napkins, doofers and straws are always well stocked. You can decide what you want to order by looking up on the wall menu which is clear and easy to read, or otherwise you can sit down and flick through a takeaway menu and decide off there. The service is great and the staff are always more than happy to accommodate your tastes to suit. For gourmet burgers the waits not to bad, I've never waited more than 15 minutes, and truth be told i'd rather wait than be served up something that's been sitting under a warm for 30 minutes or longer.

The menu has a lot to offer with chicken burgers, beef burgers and even vegetarian burgers. They have a range of sides to choose from including spud fries, kumara fries, motobites, and natural chicken tenders, as well as malt shakes and various other drinks and ice creams. Although i'm not a vegetarian I feel that they are well catered for with a lot more than one choice on the menu. My pick of burger is usually the bacon backfire which is a chicken burger with bacon, tomato relish, tomato, lettuce, Camembert and aioli it really is delicious, but beware it is HUGE and you will need a doofer to help hold it in place as you eat it.

For those not wanting a HUGE burger they have more recently created to smaller burger versions which are still bigger than the average burger, and are of course just as super tasty. Each month or so they bring out a limited edition burger which is a nice way to try out something new! Definitely a great place to eat if your having a huge appetite.

Burger Fuel is my favourite place to go for a treat as in comparison to other Take Out's it is quite expensive. I always get the same meal, The C'N Cheese which is 1/3 pound of 100% New Zealand Grass Fed Beef, Melted Cheddar, Grated Parmesan, Salad, Relish and fresh natural aioli. It always is made to a high standard and tastes delicious as well as looks amazing, I love that the fries taste homemade and come with the aioli dipping sauce, these to are always hot and fresh.

I like that the store is always clean and the staff are always friendly and happy to help. You can see them preparing and cooking your meal which for me is always reassuring. They are generally pretty fast depending on how busy they are but it is well worth the wait if not! The restraunt always has at least a few tables full and has an A grade certificate.

As far as desserts go, they only have Ice Cream available. I usually get the White Chocolate and Raspberry but the Chocolate and Hokey Pokey flavours are just as nice.

I would definitely recommend Burger Fuel as a treat but is not somewhere I would take the whole family because as I mentioned earlier it is quite expensive. All my experiences here have been positive, the food is filling and great quality. The only gripe I have is that because of the location parking is scarce.

Store: Henderson, Auckland

My wife and I used to frequent Burger Fuel quite a lot when they were first in Henderson but then they seemed to change their recipes and the food just went downhill.

One thing that I really disliked was that they got rid of the Tofu Combustion burger, reducing the amount of vegetarian options and getting rid of our favourite burger. The meat also seemed to be lessening in quality yet no price change, so paying for a burger you could get anywhere else.

The staff at Henderson are hit and miss. Go at the right time and they are wonderful but go at the wrong time (which seems to be more often than not now) and you get rushed through and ignored, as if you are the least important thing there. Due to this attitude I no longer go to Burger Fuel.

I'm still hoping they bring back the Tofu Combustion, but if they don't, well, I'm not going back any time soon.

Store: Tauranga

I love Burger Fuel as a treat it is really expensive much more expensive than any of the other takeaway burger restaurants but their burgers are a little more special as they are gourmet burgers.

The restaurant in Tauranga is just a little one and is always really busy when I go there but you seem to get your orders pretty quickly regardless of how busy they are. The staff are always friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. They always seem to be playing some sort of techno type music when I go there which isn't really my thing but I usually don't sit in the restaurant and wait for my burger. The convenient thing is that it is right next door to Countdown supermarket so while I am waiting for my order I can go get milk and any other things we may need and by the time I get back my order is usually ready.

I have tried a range of their burgers with my favourite being the Beetnik, which is a vegetarian chickpea pattie and heaps and heaps of beetrot. I am not a vegetarian but those chickpea patties are so tasty that I really love them. My partner being a real meat man always goes for the Bastard which is huge and has the biggest beef pattie in it. I have tried this one also and it is really good and the beef mince used is really good quality so it isn't really greasy.

The spud fries are the best part about it for me they are the yummiest fries and with their garlic aioli they are just perfect. I will always eat my fries and aioli first because they are so good. The kumara chips are also really nice and sometimes I will get those instead. A combo with fries and a burger is so filling that it really is much to much for me, but my partner loves it because he gets really full.

The only thing with this restaurant is there is not much my daughter will eat as she doesn't eat burgers and the chicken tenders they sell are not crispy crumbed tenders like she is used to so she doesn't like those either. So that only leaves the fries for her so generally we only get Burger Fuel when she is away from home for night.

Parking is scarce in this area of busy Fitzherbert Ave, but luckily we managed to find a spot right outside.

We walked inside, and saw most tables filled with people either waiting to eat, or eating. A full house is usually a good sign! I was pleased to see an ?A? grade rating here. All cooking and prep is done in full view of the customers. We had a look over the menu, which was positioned on the wall and a little hard to read as people kept walking in front of it (it is at eye level).

There is definitely a great variety here! I was really impressed with the vegetarian burgers too ? really different and inventive ideas. We finally chose what we wanted ? one ?Bacon Backfire? (chicken fillet, bacon, brie, salad, relish, aioli) and one ?Ford Freakout? (1/3 pound ground beef, bacon, avo, salad, relish, aioli). Along with a side of spud fries and aioli.

Gotta love the quirky names they have for their burgers!!!

Prices vary for each burger, but most are around the $8-$9 mark. Believe me though, it is money well spent! You can also order from their new ?lightweight menu?, which are a selection of smaller burgers, at a slightly smaller price.

We placed our order with the very polite cashier and sat down to wait (plenty of waiting area). I filled out an application for a Burgerfuel VIP card which I waited ? you receive a free burger on your birthday apparently so great incentive to join!

After about 15 minutes our number was called and we collected our food to takeaway. The burgers were wrapped in neat packaging ? brown paper bags with the burger?s name stamped on the bag. Very cool! The fries ? delicious, not greasy at all and were served in a paper chip cup, with just enough aioli.

The burgers. Both burgers tasted fantastic. The buns (all dairy free) were fresh, and had sesame seeds on both the top and bottom, something I haven?t seen before! Fillings were perfectly fresh and great quality. The avocado used on the Ford Freakout was plentiful, and good quality. Plenty of brie on the Bacon Backfire.

Basically, an excellent gourmet burger outlet which I cannot fault. My new favourite in Palmy Nth.
