Little Red Riding Hood: A classic story, but there's more to every tale than meets the eye. Before you judge a book by its cover, you've got to flip through the pages.

For this story, we begin at the end. Furry and feathered cops from the animal world investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage, involving a girl, a wolf, and an axe. The charges are many: breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, intent to eat, and wielding an axe without a license. Not to mention, this case might be tied to the elusive "Goody Bandit" who has been stealing the recipes of goody shops everywhere.

Hoodwinked is a modern take on the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood. I saw this in the theatres when it came out. Many of my adult friends were absolutely raving about it, so I was expecting something big. But I was quite disappointed really.

The animation was not as clean as I have seen in other movies that came out at a similar time. The story was interesting, but the approach wasn't new for kid's movies either. I did like the characters, and I felt that for the most part they did build the characters so you felt attached to them at the end.

The way the story unravelled, was often predictable despite feeling like I shouldn't have seen certain things coming. But hey, I'm an adult! My daughter enjoyed the film, was captured by the story and the funny characters. She has watched it since the theatre as well, and seemed to enjoy it as much as the first time. Its not something I can sit and watch though, but its okay in the background while I do something else.

A bit of a wierd movie really. This is little red riding hood like you have never even DREAMED of it before. If you have ever seen a cop show like CSI where they let you see the interview of each suspect complete with reenactments of the scenes being described then you will have some idea of how this movie is laid out. You get to see the one sequence of events from the perspective of each of the participants, guided by the unique character of "Flippers", a frog with a wish to look like Agatha Christie's Poirot. With some great humour and a lot of silly antics more suitable for kids and those with young-at-heart senses of humour this movie is a laugh but might not appeal to the older set as much as some other recent animated movies like Cars or Ice Age 2.
